About this deal

Given a suitably talented system and a large enough room, few rivals can match the XT8F’s combination of muscle and subtlety. Our XT subwoofers strike a perfect balance between sound pressure level (SPL) and sound quality (SQ). With a conservative 300W RMS power output and a peak power output of 1000W, they deliver an audio experience that transcends expectations.

Simply put, tonality is the measurement of how annoying and perceivable a sound is. It’s the difference between the crunch of leaves under your tyre, and a squeaking brake rotor. Most e-bike motors use gears and belts to move you forward – but belts and gears lash, slip, rattle and wear out over time. That disconnects you from the ride. The Fuel EXe uses a motor unlike anything else out there – the TQ harmonic pin ring transmission. The harmonic pin ring transmission is not only smaller and lighter than traditional e-bike motors, but because it has fewer moving parts it’s also smoother, quieter and more durable. It delivers more of the ride experience without any downside. It doesn't take a whole lot of risks with the design, and is fairly straight forward aesthetically, but it has enough character that it'll fit in well with your rig. It’s easy to feed audio to your Eris E8 XT studio monitors from an audio interface, mixer, monitor controller, or almost any other line-level source. Eris E8 XT monitors provide balanced XLR, balanced ¼” TRS, and unbalanced RCA line-level inputs. You’ll have no problem hooking your Eris speakers up to virtually anything.

Tonally, these Tannoys aren’t the sweetest sounding performers around. You’ll have to take care not to partner them with anything that sounds overly forward or harsh, because they’ll do little to tone these qualities down. Inside the casing, new ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) have taken over completely from LSI (Large Scale Integration) chips, and the whole mechanism is now supported on a rigid, cast aluminium chassis, making the XT machine rather heavier than its ancestor. I'm told the chassis alone weighs seven pounds. Unlike the other graphics cards in the RDNA 2 lineup, AMD is not launching its own version of the Radeon RX 6600 XT. Instead, it's exclusively available through third party card partners like MSI and XFX. The version of the card we were sent for review was the MSI Radeon RX 6600 XT Gaming X. The Fuel EXe’s motor is tuned for tone, measuring in under 0.2 tu – five times less perceivable than other light-assist bikes – so you can forgo the annoying whine of most e-bike motors to stay in the moment and connected with nature while you ride. Most of all they make listening to music fun and that, more than anything else, is the reason why we’re happy to recommend them wholeheartedly.

Paradoxically, where the greatest change is evident is the area that has changed least in hardware terms — the transport. If you've heard anything at all about the ADAT XT, it's probably that the transport winds significantly faster than it did on previous ADATs, but at heart it is based on the same Panasonic SVHS mechanism. Essentially, the transport has been modified so that it is capable of winding around four times faster than before. But unlike the previous model, where you had to disengage the tape from the head to achieve a good fast‑wind speed, the XT keeps the tape engaged at all times in normal operation (unless the machine is left idle for several minutes, in which case the tape unlaces itself to prevent head wear). It is now possible to go into disengaged mode by hitting Stop twice to double the fast‑wind speed, but this is unlikely to be needed unless you're completely rewinding a tape. The outcome is that the fast‑wind time is about 40 times play speed which, although not quite as nippy as a DAT, is actually quite close. Tape handling seems smoother than before, with less clunking and more whirring, no doubt again a result of the new control software. Due to the incessant demand for longer recording times, it's now possible to select 180, 240 or 260 minute (PAL) tapes, giving from 40 minutes to a maximum of 62 minutes recording time. The use of 180 or 240 tapes was possible on the older machine, and once again the function is selected using an odd combination of existing buttons. It's also possible to use the shorter 60 minute tapes on an XT, though there's no need to tell the machine because it can recognise these tapes from their shell casing. The same length of tape should be used in all machines, and if the XT is being used with a BRC, the tape length setting will be memorised when the system is turned off. As expected, the first two minutes of the tape is reserved for header data, which includes the BRC setup and song data. Unlike the Fostex RD8 ADAT, however, there seems to be no way to save a setup of the XT's own locator values onto the tape. How the graphics card market will progress as we head into the next generation of hardware is anyone's guess, but it's probably a good thing that the RX 6650 XT launched so late in the generation cycle, because it might not be too long before the next-gen becomes current-gen and AMD RDNA 3 cards cause RDNA 2 to fall in price. Tonality is measured in tonality units, or tu for short. Sounds that measure under 0.1 tu aren’t perceivable to the human ear, while sounds over 0.4 tu are grating and annoying. For tight, punchy, and melodious bass, your search ends here. If you seek musicality without breaking the bank, the 8-inch XT subwoofer is your perfect choice. By comparison, the RTX 3060 Ti's GPU features 38 streaming multiprocessors (SMs), which in turn add up to 4,864 CUDA cores. While it's very hard to do an apples-to-apples comparison between Nvidia's CUDA cores and AMD's Stream Processors, the RTX 3060 Ti has about 20% more SMs to process integer and floating-point calculations, and in the end it's performance is at least that much better across nearly every workload we've tested.

Fox Performance 36, Float EVOL air spring, GRIP damper, tapered steerer, 44 mm offset, Boost110, 15 mm Kabolt axle, 150 mm travel The original ADAT offered only two autolocate points plus a return‑to‑zero function, but the XT features a full 10‑point autolocator which is quite independent of the BRC and, to my mind, rather more logical to operate. BRC users can, therefore, enjoy the luxury of 10 additional locate points with the proviso that the XT's own locate points can only be accessed from the XT's front panel, not from the BRC. Exactly the same is true of the auto punch‑in/out function — if auto punch‑in is executed from the BRC, then the XT's own auto punch‑in function isn't used, but if an auto punch‑in is executed from the XT's front panel (which works between autolocate points 2 and 3), the BRC doesn't get involved at all, other than as a remote transport control. Now, we know more than most what the state of the graphics card market over the last few years has been, and that nothing has been normal and MSRP is just a number someone made up somewhere that has no actual bearing on those looking to buy the best cheap graphics card they can get. But even the RX 6650 XT's third-party cards are priced way higher than they should be for what they can actually do, and in most cases a little bit more will get you an overpriced RTX 3060 Ti, since the price of the RX 6650 XT is already getting you a substantial part of the way there anyway. As far as ports, you're getting three DisplayPort outputs and one HDMI 2.1 port. So, while this graphics card is definitely aimed at 1080p gaming, it is capable of outputting 8K video at 60Hz. Just don't go expecting to play games at that resolution.
