About this deal

My favourite part was Claire hitting Ryan with a large metal Thermos. That was so laughably bad and ridiculous it was hilarious. Moral of the story? Don't go anywhere without a Thermos. This book was gripping from the very beginning. I loved not being sure about who was to be believed in this book. Was Ed being an overprotective father? Were Ed's instincts, right? This was all part of the fun of the book for me. With the days to the wedding counting down, Ed is on a nonstop mission to find the truth! The emotionally engaging and morally complex story raises the pertinent moral questions; should we be judged by the actions of our distant past and at what point do we have to stop blaming other people for the life we’ve led?”

Ed, Abbey's father detects something more sinister and disturbing in this new man in Abbeys life, and he is determined to find out what lies beneath, despite his wife and daughter believing he is just reluctant to let her go. Who is right? The Catch is a psychological thriller about a close-knit fishing family disrupted by the arrival of the eldest daughter’s new boyfriend, Ryan, who is a rich, handsome younger man. Ed is a fisherman and a proud family man. Her father, Ed, finds his life spiraling out of control as he tries to discover who Abbie Collier's boyfriend really is. The closer the wedding date, the harder it was to put this one down! Ed (the ultimate helicopter dad) was such an endearing character. His dark humor had me laughing out loud at his obsessive behavior (it is his daughter so it is understandable, he thinks the guy is evil).Jason Watkins, who plays Ed, adds: “I’ve always loved thrillers on-screen and The Catch has all the ingredients to keep audiences hooked. The Catch book ending then jumped to a year later when Claire and Abbie were laying flowers on Ed and his son’s graves. Ed’s body had been found on the moor, as had the bodies of Ryan’s first wife Lori, his foster mother Eileen and two other unidentified women. By this time Abbie had given birth to her and Ryan’s son and the final words of the book reveal that his eyes were, “His father’s eyes”. If you’re eager to dive into The Catch whether you’ve read T.M. Logan's 2020 book or not then the place to head is Channel 5. The drama is split into 4 episodes, each an hour long, and airs every Wednesday at 9pm on Channel 5 starting from January 25, with episodes made available to stream afterwards on My5. Terrified that his cherished only child is about to marry a man who is not what he seems, Ed sets out to uncover Ryan’s secrets. But the more he digs and the more obsessed he becomes, the more he alienates his daughter and his wife, who are both convinced Ryan is The One. a b Cannon, Nicholas (31 January 2023). "The Catch — next episode, cast, plot, trailer, interviews and all about the thriller". whattowatch.com. The Catch is a hugely suspenseful story and the tension builds up slowly, as Ed travels down an increasingly darker path. How far will a father go? Throughout, the reader is left to wonder about Ryan. But also about Ed himself. It isn’t until the end, when the pieces of the puzzle start to come together, that you realise how cleverly T.M. Logan has plotted this story. T.M. Logan always manages to come up with the basics of a realistic scenario, that then spins entirely out of control. The Catch is no different. A father who doesn’t approve of his daughter’s choice of partner isn’t that hard to imagine. In Ed’s case, it’s not just the close bond between Abbey and himself that is causing this overprotectiveness. There is more to it than that, but that’s something you’ll have to discover for yourself. This story is literally a cat and mouse game - who is following who? Who is the one with the upper hand? Is Ryan a psychopath or is Ed just an overprotective father who cannot overcome his deep grief and guilt over the death of Jonathan, desperate not to let Abbie (his daughter) down like he feels he did Jonathan.

You did feel like you were in a capital city by the seaside, which I think is a really well-kept secret." We will update on any 2023 international release, plus if the drama arrives on a streaming channel such as Netflix. Is there a trailer for The Catch? Two weeks after it came out as an e-book, I discovered that my day job – by this point I was a deputy director in charge of the university’s communications team – was being made redundant as part of a restructure. That was when I decided to take the plunge into writing full-time, which I have been doing since summer 2017. It’s a job that I love. Paul Testar, Commissioning Executive, Drama, Channel 5 and Paramount+, said: “I’m delighted to work with the talented team at Projector Pictures to bring this gripping story to Channel 5. The Catch will be a suspenseful watch set in a beautiful, atmospheric environment that will keep audiences guessing from beginning to end. A thrilling addition to Channel 5’s drama slate.”
