About this deal

Indeed, I really liked his team member DI Becky Robinson who seemed so perceptive and down to earth. Labai geri pagrindiniai veikėjai (detektyvai) ir smagu, kad knyga neperkrauta jų asmeninio gyvenimo detalėm. She knows that the police will be looking for her, and she tries everything possible to stop them from tracking her down.

Whilst the intricacies of the investigation are very well portrayed and the reader learns a lot about the team work involved, it is the sub-plot concerning Martha that really drives the story. If you are already a fan of Rachel Abbott books, you expect to already be into the murder, or at least on your way to it, by the end of the first page; this story is different. Her husband has set up a company that is currently developing an app that can accurately predict what will happen in your day. Skaitant buvo labai gaila, kad tevai, ypac mama, pasmerke ne tik save, bet ir savo vaika, tokiam gyvenimui. Once again Rachel Abbott has created an original story with a cast of characters who are either fascinating or downright despicable. When Tom Douglas and his team arrive at the offices, a young woman, an employee of the firm, Martha Porter, flees, hoping to avoid speaking to the police. His company, XO-Tech have a small workforce and when the investigation team visit the offices, it becomes clear that there's one person who doesn't want to be involved in any questioning.

A resolve to be a giant among men, to conquer, plunder and seize the greatness that he thinks is his right. What appeals about this series, is that Tom Douglas and his team, although essential to the plot, are not the focal point. Then Rachel also takes us back in time when we see a young family moving into a new home in Liverpool. Bob Johansson has just sold his software company for a small fortune and is looking forward to a life of leisure.Nobody can understand why Genevieve Strachan would leave her home, late at night, wearing high heels, and end up battered and stabbed.

When several members of the ring soon turn up dead, Billy abruptly pulls Kate out, blowing her cover. I was really looking forward to read another book featuring DCI Tom Douglas, so much that I was afraid my expectations were too high. Secret and manipulation are at the heart of the story and the IT aspect gives it a contemporary feel. It's cleverly and well thought-out, the police investigation ties in neatly with the revelations about Martha and doubts are cast throughout.

As you continue, you are drawn into the incredible circumstances of the subtle absorption of otherwise seemingly normal people into the clutches of a cult. It can absolutely be read as a standalone, so if you’re new to this series as well, you don’t need to have read the previous books. The police murder investigation is interwoven with a mystery concerning why Martha Porter feels she has to run away. Both stories complement each other and you find yourself going up several dead alleys before you realise the truth. Not long after they move there, a mysterious man moves in with them who makes India, who is a young girl at the time and her father, feel very uncomfortable.
