About this deal

So now let’s switch to astronomy; you buy them a great book on astronomy and a cool map showing where some amazing objects are, then you give them a telescope that even when used by a professional could not identify a car across a football field much less the planet Jupiter in the night sky. It wobbles, it’s blurry, and it is extremely hard to navigate. What do you think their reaction would be? The 76AZ uses Newtonian reflector optics within the tube which in theory means that it utilises a parabolic mirror inside however, taking into account the costs of the device, there’s a very good chance that the mirror inside could be spherical or even a birds and jones variant (which would make it tough to align the mirrors) Try looking at a couple of large star clusters like M45 the Seven Sisters star cluster or the Double Cluster between Perseus and Cassiopeia, or even take a look at the "Great Nebula" M42 at the "sword" of Orion and tell us what you think of the views. Don't be disappointed if your view doesn't match the pretty pictures you see in magazines or books at first. Later on, some people get much larger telescopes that can present these Nebulae and clusters MUCH, MUCH brighter and with some interesting colors and much more detail, and cameras can enhance your observing and show you much color and detail as well. We can help you with these things as well. Saturn and Jupiter are clearly identifiable and a joy to watch, as is the Orion nebula and Andromeda galaxy. From there it is a mixed bag with objects such as the Pleadies being easy to see and pretty spectacular, The Lagoon and Eagle nebulae are quite pleasing but require a bit more effort, while the Ring and Dumbbell nebulae are virtually impossible to get any enjoyment out of with the Celestron Powerseeker 70AZ beyond finding them. You are probably wondering why I like the Celestron Powerseeker 70AZ when I use terms like barely adequate and useless when I describe the accessories. Good question.

The #80A is a medium-blue filter that enhances the contrast of the cloud belts on Jupiter and the polar ice caps on Saturn. It also can be used to increase contrast on the Moon if you don’t mind the color shift. As your new telescope would give you 175X with the 4mm eyepiece, it's quite understandable that it's giving you trouble. 175X, which you derive by dividing the focal-length of the telescope - 700mm - by the focal-length of the eyepiece - 4mm - using the formula: 700mm / 4mm = 175X - and this is the upper limit of magnification for this telescope. You find this by gauging the rule of 50 to 60X per inch of aperture, or 3." This so-called 'rule' is quite loosely used. This would be doable only on night with very good 'seeing' conditions. Which is rare. And forget it altogether with the Barlow lens.

The Celestron Powerseeker 70AZ

The Celestron Powerseeker line of telescopes is affordable, and therefore perfect for stargazers new to astronomy. They offer exceptional value, and feature portable yet powerful designs with ample optical performance to excite any newcomer to the world of amateur astronomy. The Powerseeker 76AZ has a Newtonian reflector, offering a larger aperture and greater light gathering power needed to resolve the faint detail of hundreds of deep-sky and other celestial objects. It has a 76mm aperture and 700mm focal length. Looking through the eyepiece is weird. I feel like my eyelashes are getting in the way, haha! I can see but I feel like my own eyelids are a problem. Anyone else had this? The device for the most part is considered a beginner level device and when users have gone in with that mindset, it doesn’t seem to be all that bad for most. Although one major issue it does have is that the images upside down (flipped). Celestron PowerSeeker-sarjan kaukoputket on suunniteltu antamaan ensimmäistä kaukoputkeaan ostavalle täydellisen yhdistelmän laatua, edullisuutta, ominaisuuksia ja tehoa. Edullinen teholuokassaan, nämä kaukoputket tarjovat aloittelijalle innoittavan määrän tehoa ja optista suorituskykyä helposti kuljetettavassa pakkauksessa.I can allign the finderscope to perfection with the crosshairs dead centre, but then I find myself having to adjust the barrel as I'm looking through the eyepiece. The Celestron AstroMaster AZ telescopes all use the same mount, which shares much of its design with the EQ versions’ CG-3 mount and tripod, the only difference being the design of the mount head. It attaches to the LT 76AZ optical tube and other tubes with a standard Vixen-style dovetail saddle. The parts are a mix of cheap, fragile metal alloy castings and a huge amount of plastic parts, even in crucial places like the fasteners and clamps for the tripod legs. You will be hard pressed to find a better first telescope for a beginning astronomer. I really like to recommend the Celestron Powerseeker 70AZ because it is inexpensive, light weight, breaks down and stores small, requires no maintenance and provides more than adequate views of the most popular objects in the night sky. The optics are great for viewings faint objects in the sky as all types of light can pass through the lenses (this isn’t the case for a refractor telescope).
