About this deal

Bathtime (or showertime given that a lot of homes don’t have baths here) can be the most fun or the most horrible time ever. I cannot remember what kind of kid I was, but I know during my teens I absolutely loved showering, haha. After that and until now I am a bit mixed. Sometimes I love showering, other times I just want to not do it. Haha. I was curious to read this book and see what bathtime would entail! It is night-time in the supermarket, and it's the veggies' weekly bath. But...what's this? SOMEONE has been meddling with the bubble bath and that can only lead to one thing: BUBBLY TROUBLY! I really liked how things ended! The art was fun and I liked how the food looked. All in all, I definitely want some more of these Supertato books as I am very curious about how he became super! Plus, I got other questions, but as I said don’t think about those. XD I would definitely recommend this one. This one is fun for those that love bath/showertime but also may just be a motivation for haters to maybe like baths! In this hilariously silly new adventure the veggies are enjoying their weekly bath. That is, until Evil Pea shows up and swaps the Bubbly Bubbles for Troubly Bubbles! Oh no the veggies are trapped down in the bubbles. Can Supertato save the day? Will he get revenge on the pesky Evil Pea? He has some help from Mystic Mango but he needs to solve the supermarket riddles to help the veggies!

It is night-time in the supermarket, and it’s the veggies’ weekly bath. But…what’s this? SOMEONE has been meddling with the bubble bath and that can only lead to one thing: BUBBLY TROUBLY! The much-loved character from Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet, the bestselling, award-winning creators of Barry the Fish with Fingers, I Need a Wee and Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell. Well, it begins all good and nice with tons of fun bubble activities! But then the evil Pea (haha, I loved that the pea was the evil guy) makes a bubbly chaos out of it and the vegetables are all in pure chaos as there is no way out of the bubbles! Confusion! Chaos! Yas! Haha, I really liked seeing the vegetables work together and thinking up all sorts of ideas to get rid of the soap following a visit from a mystic mango. Yes, I am not kidding you. These guys have a mystic mango in their midst and I was just rolling off my chair laughing. Many thanks to Simon & Schuster Children’s UK for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. You can read my full review here.

Sue Hendra grew up in Wimbledon and has always loved making up stories and drawing pictures. Her favourite book as a child was Mr Silly. She graduated from Brighton University in 1994 and has been creating picture books ever since. In 2006 she met Paul Linnet and could instantly see that she’d met a fellow nitwit who liked talking nonsense. They went on to create many bestselling books together, working in a small room in their house in Brighton. Sue loves swimming, and can swim up and down for a very long time. Her favourite book is still Mr Silly.

Fans of Barry, Norman and Keith will absolutely adore this new wonderfully eccentric new character' Mumsnet This was a really fun family read. It followed the typical Supertato formula well: veggies having a good time which is ruined by the dastardly Evil Pea and then the veggies working as a team to solve the problem led by the infamous Supertato. It’s cheerful and colourful and features some fun word play that my husband and I really enjoyed. We used to spend a week in my early years classroom reading the Supertato stories and engaging in related learning opportunities around the classroom and they were always so popular. The children loved creating Supertato and his veggie friends using vegetables to act out these stories! While I genuinely enjoyed the story itself, I’m not 100% sure how I feel about the Mystic Mango character. There was something there that felt dangerously close to racial stereotyping which didn’t sit right with me. Meet Supertato! He's always there for you when the chips are down. He's the supermarket superhero with eyes everywhere - but now there's a pea on the loose. A very, very naughty pea. Has Supertato finally met his match?

Hilarious... One of the funniest picture books this year - read it and laugh out loud!' Creative Steps Magazine These stories are so full of fun and the illustrations are brilliant and bring the comedy adventure to life. I have to say that, given this takes place in a supermarket…. I was a bit weirded out. I mean I don’t want my veggies (and fruits) to be alive. Talk and take baths. And apparently veggies aren’t the only ones alive. Um…. OK. I can work with this. I think. Haha. Just let my imagination go and not think about the details. 😛

Reviews

I have heard of Supertato before but never had the chance to read it! So when I saw one of the books pop up on Netgalley I knew now was the time to get to start reading the series, starting with this one! The first book in the bestselling SUPERTATO series by picture book superstars Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet!
