New Spring is a open world zombie survival RPG where you spend the daytime exploring and scavenging for tools and weapons, and defend your base when night falls. Moiraine Damodred, a young Accepted soon to be raised to Aes Sedai, and Lan Mandragoran, a soldier fighting in the battle, are set on paths that will bind their lives together. It usually comes together with a sense that even as the books grow longer and longer, less and less plot progress seems to happen in them, and the distantly glimpsed resolution of the overarching plot seems no closer at the end of the latest book than it did at the beginning. I sometimes wonder if he resented having to finish "The Wheel of Time" before he could move on to a new world.And certainly it may seem churlish to make a criticism that Jordan made Moiraine’s character more distinct from the ‘this is just one more adventure in my long life’ wizardly fantasy archetypes he initially ripped off. I trust one can therefore understand that I spent most of my first reading of the first book pausing every few paragraphs and mumbling “…Really? We get another in-depth look into the daily life of an Aes Sedea and it makes me like them even less. But if like me you have firm attachments to who people are and you didn’t like the Mat/Tylin seduction then this is probably not for you.

The plot synopsis on Wikipedia uses the word ‘continues’ after the name of each viewpoint character, which says it all. It sounds like a corny movie trailer (I'm sure everyone can hear the movie trailer voice when reading "esCApe. This kind of timescale prequel problem can also be seen at the end of the Star Wars film “Revenge of the Sith”, set a similar time length before “A New Hope” as “New Spring” is before “The Eye of the World”, yet we already have to see Darth Vader and Moff Tarkin watching the Death Star being built to try to establish a link. I never genuinely wanted a relationship with Jesus when I was growing up — but now I know I am chosen by Christ and He will stand by my side no matter what trials I go through. New Spring: Survival is a open world zombie survival and crafting RPG where you are trying to stave off the hordes in a procedurally generated post-apocalypse.They talk with the people at the centre to make sure that they are trained and helped to do their job as well as possible. The plot doesn't actually feel interesting until the finale of the book, but even then - it's still somewhat on the weaker side. I love many of the conversations they had and how they play off each other, and which the main series had more of these dynamics which were lacking for large portions here.
