About this deal

The DM-40 monitors feature a built-in Class A/B amplifier (left speaker) that delivers 2x 21W with amazing audio response and clarity. Perfect for use as reference monitors, or for your home studio / production set-up. The DM 40’s come in a pretty small size factor. They aren’t so tiny and light that this would be a selling point, but the speakers sure won’t crowd your room. These are especially helpful when placing your audio setup on a table because the table can act as a speaker extension itself. Our only advise regarding the speaker is to take care when handling and moving the DM-40. Because the speaker uses a soft dome tweeter and doesn’t feature speaker grills it can be easy to dent, ruining not only the look but the sound of the speaker. DM-40 Sound Quality Create a versatile home set-up that can deliver a rich, balanced sound for producing and DJing. These compact desktop speakers have been designed using professional speaker technology and effortlessly connect to all your Bluetooth® wireless devices.

Pioneer Corporation, commonly referred to as Pioneer, is a Japanese multinational company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, that specialises in producing digital entertainment products. The company was founded by Nozomu Matsumoto in 1938 in Tokyo as a radio and speaker repair workshop. Current CEO is Susumu Kotani. Features The DM-40D-BTs are ideal for both DJing and producing music. There is a little switch on the DM 40D-BT speakers where you can choose DJ mode or music production mode. As a result, the DSP settings automatically alter and augment, leaving you to focus on the music. DM-40D-BT Connections If you need a speaker that defies the regular square shape that other speakers come with, this speaker is an excellent choice for you. It is oval-shaped, lightweight, and portable. This speaker boasts Bluetooth connectivity with a fantastic range. The only downside to this speaker is that it is not that great when you try to play music at lower volumes. They are not as lightweight as they may seem, but that is indeed beneficial. Many of the low-tier cabinets are made out of plastic, whereas the DM 40 speaker cabinets are made out of wood.

The front mounted bass ports help the bass driver drop lower, moving more air as a result. Although most speakers feature a bass port, they are often found on the rear of the speaker. As a result most speakers suffer in performance if mounted close to a wall. Thankfully, Pioneer DJ have placed two ports on the front of the speaker, meaning the DM-40 is perfectly suited to being placed close to a wall.

The compact DM-40 desktop monitors bring excellent audio quality to your home setup. They inherit the best from our professional S-DJX series and Pro Audio speakers, including a front-loaded bass reflex system for a rich, tight bass and DECO* technology for a wider reach and sweet spot.Related: PIONEER DDJ-400 DJ Controller Pioneer DM-40 Speaker Details: features DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY: If you’re into mixing music as a DJ or just fancy something loud and happy to listen to then these might just be the pair of speakers for you. Trusted Shops Although the connections are great for cheaper equipment, the DM-40 doesn’t feature any balanced connections. We don’t really expect any of the DM-40’s target market will be bothered by this exclusion though. With only more professional speakers and equipment requiring such a connection.

The best part is that it has comprehensive coverage that engulfs a room. Of course, it's thanks to the diffuser that deploys the classic Pioneer DECO technology to ensure the high frequencies it produces spread across the room. As a result, you could be far away from the speaker but still hear the music it plays. However, you have to be in the same room as the speaker to listen to the song's being played. The best thing about the diffuser is that it ensures the speaker only produces clear and smooth sounds that won't be polluted by distortions, regardless of how high you increase the volume. If you are serious, then double the price can get you some truly outstanding budget speakers, such as the Adam T5Vs. The DM 40 have a sleek design that is quite unique. Curved front edges – this is not only to impress visually but also to minimize the unwanted resonance of frequencies. Complementing the low-frequency driver is a ¾-inch soft-dome high-frequency tweeter. This handles the mids and highs and does a reasonable job thanks to the large convex diffuser.

The Pioneer DM-40’s are an excellent set of studio monitors. But they are not for everyone. If you are a bedroom DJ or want something better than computer speakers these are ideal. On the flip side, if you want to hear and analyze your latest musical creation in detail these will fall short. While one will not experience the bliss of intricate sonic details, the overall good quality is impressive at such a low price. Pioneer DM 40: The Final Verdict The specially engineered ducts cut down on impediments and produce a clean, grand, low-end oomph regardless of your volume levels. Class AB Amplifiers One of them is the master speaker – it has all the inputs and volume controls, whereas the other acts as the slave speaker.

Especially if you want to practice your DJing skills, having a pair of speakers that make you want to move is an essential point to cover.

All these features are combined in a compact design making the DM-40 the perfect match for DJing, producing and simply enjoying music at home. If you are looking for compact monitors there are some other options worth considering. Likewise, some interesting budget options challenge the DM-40’s when it comes to price. PreSonus Eris E3.5 Review The amplifiers in the DJ DM 40 speakers are designed to ensure minimal levels of low distortion, even when cranking the volume. The tweeters and woofers are both aligned with each other so that there is no crossover between them. One of the appealing aspects of the DM-40’s is the compact size. Perfectly suited for smaller studio spaces while still delivering pleasing sound. This is a nice surprise at the low price point. Wood helps to stabilize the cone movement, thus making for a tighter sonic punch. Anecdotally, people also say that over time the tone of a wooden cabinet improves.
