About this deal

Milan Schlegel PR and Influencer Manager EMEA for Sennheiser Headphones & Soundbars, Sonova Consumer Hearing GmbH The Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless is all about finding the perfect fit. These lightweight headphones (only 6.8 grams per bud) come with six sets of what Sennheiser calls ear adapters (closed/open, small/medium/large) and four 'ear fin' sets (N, S1, S2, S3) to make sure they sit perfectly in your ears. The four-mic-array works well. We didn't have any issues understanding every word of a test recording from our iPhone, but we did notice a few Bluetooth artifacts in the signal. Supplied with both Open and Closed earbud adapters, the Sport True Wireless earphones let you choose how much of the outside world to let in. Generally, it’s recommended to use the Closed buds at the gym and the Open buds when out for a run, keeping you more aware of surrounding traffic.

The sound quality is nothing short of incredible, surpassing the quality of even more costly earbuds. This is something that won’t come as a surprise to Sennheiser veterans, given how impressive the sound quality of their products generally is. The Sennheiser Smart Control app (available for Android and iOS) is a requirement because you need to tune the earphones via the EQ depending on which eartips you choose; the Focus EQ mode is for the closed eartips and Aware EQ mode is for the open ones.

What is the Sennheiser CX True Wireless like?

Sadly carrying spare ear adapters is impractical unless you have somewhere of your own to put them, and this feels like something of an oversight for a product that alleges to rely so heavily on the interchangeability of the ear adapters. When you consider the outstanding battery life, detailed sound and competitive price, the latest Momentum over-ears have a lot going for them. The mids are pushed as well to bring lead instruments and vocalists up front. This is very necessary for the context of use. While the sound is by no means an accurate representation, it’s sculpted to provide everything you need to hear to get the full picture. You wouldn’t be able to hear finer details on a treadmill anyways, so getting a clear sound for the more essential aspects is much more important. Highs So, whether you're after sporty earbuds for running and the gym, a premium pair for travelling, or some of the best noise-cancelling headphones for home listening, you'll find something to satisfy you below. The headphones are equipped with Sennheiser’s “TrueResponse Transducer”, a 7mm dynamic driver capable of delivering “superior clarity without distortion - even at high volume”.

In addition, the headphones come with an adjustable sidetone, making phone calls “more comfortable by letting you hear your own voice during calls”. That being said, the built-in microphone is functional but isn’t the best. Sonically, the CX Sports deliver a large dose of Sennheiser’s traditional in-ear sound. Clarity permeates through the frequence range, allowing for lots of detail to shine through. The sound is also built on a solid foundation of full-bodied and powerful bass. Sennheiser has a reputation for making great quality audio for home and office listening, but the company doesn’t really have a reputation for making audio gear for active types. That changes now with the introduction of Sennheiser Sport true wireless earbuds.A drastic departure from their predecessor, the new Huawei FreeBuds 5 look and sound different from the rest

Comfort is good, build quality is typically impressive and the sound is spacious, refined and clear. The spec sheet boasts top-notch battery life (28 hours), Bluetooth codec support (aptX Adaptive) and superb noise-cancelling technology. Taking the fins out of the equation however the earbuds are quite comfortable, and Sennheiser have shipped them with a “no fin” option that you can use if you want to trade off the stability the fin offers with the long term comfort of taking it away. A good footrest is as important to comfort as the chair you sit in, and Secretlab’s Professional Footrest is ideal for home or office use The buds themselves are small and compact, and we thought that they felt secure and comfortable when we tested them. They are easy to use, doing their job when it comes to passive noise cancellation or keeping you aware of your surroundings. The viral, eardrum-shattering headphones add active noise cancellation and more for an immersive listening experience With their latest iteration of in-ear headphones, the SPORT True Wireless, you get exactly what you expect - a true wireless set of earbuds designed with athletes and fitness enthusiasts in mind, with the unique look, feel, and sound that Sennheiser delivers so consistently. The “open” and “closed” ear adapters work together with the Smart Control App, which has a “focus” mode and an “aware” mode. If you’re outdoors, Sennheiser suggests using the open ear adapters with the app set to aware mode.

The Jaybird Vista 2 have an even better water rating than the Jabra Elite 7 Active and feature an equally compact body; however, Jaybird's top buds have wing tips to ensure the wireless headphones stay in place better. To get them connected to your phone is easy: they will be in pairing mode when you first put them in, look in your phone’s Bluetooth menu and tap to connect. So in my personal experience, the fins are necessary for a secure fit, but I wasn’t able to find a pair that were comfortable. If you’re at home or in the gym, then you need the closed-ear adapters and focus mode. This “eliminates distractions” using passive noise-cancelling - the earbud works with the app to drown out or muffle external sounds. They've been designed with comfort in mind, with rubberized ear fins that keep them snug in your ear while you're working out. In the box you get three different ear fin sizes as well as four different ear tips, so you should be able to find the right fit for you fairly easily. Sennheiser claims the open tips will reduce sounds like the pounding of your feet while running, and the buds were noticeably good on this front in Aware mode. You still hear your feet landing, but the noise comes more from outside rather than the internal thump you get with many in-ear buds. The velour earpads are plush, generously sized, and very, very comfortable. The headband isn't quite as comfy, but it doesn't exert undue pressure on your head, and the headphones are fairly light, making them well-suited to long listening sessions.
