About this deal

It obviously features a lot of great music but I can't see it appealing to those seeking just the hits. Not only is this song just too long and dull on the Powerslave album, but this rendition is from Live After Death which sounds very thin. Best of the Beast lacks tracks like Killers, Prowler and a other classics from the first two albums. It starts off with the wonderful Virus and continues to go back in time from X-Factor all the way back to the Soundhouse Tapes. The song takes up so much room that could have been given to Flight of Icarus or more tracks from the first two albums.

The track listing is comprise primarily of the band’s singles and other well-known songs from their 1980-1995 albums, but they also include a new single, “Virus,” and a previously unreleased live version of “Afraid to Shoot Strangers. Over the years, we have had multiple best of collections from the English heavy metal legends, Iron Maiden. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. It is generally accepted that most printed-tee-wearing non-metalhead subordinate people are best served by a greatest-hits album since it can sustain their very limited attention, therefore by targeting audiences new and old with a collection works varying according to different tastes, sales are maximised, and with all editions of "Best of the Beast" weighted towards the iconic Bruce Dickinson hard-rocking era - symphonic live renditions and highlights from Blaze Blayley and Paul Di'Anno's respective periods at the helm notwithstanding - as well as some tasteful remastering and cogent sequencing applied throughout, the compilers have succeeded where many have failed, covering all the bases and pretty much pleasing everyone in the process, including Iron Maiden's own very finicky fanbase! Finally, in 1996, long after the band's imperial phase had ended, a round-up of all their best-known songs was released.Indeed, this series of 10 CDs was infinitely more valuable than a greatest-hits compilation, especially for hardcore fans and collectors, but the demand for a single-disc career overview remained. Iron Maiden achieved veneration and prosperity primarily as an album-oriented band whose propensity for exceeding deadlines and writing too much or too little material often resulted in hasty track selections. Each song sounds very natural, there's hardly any compression, clipping and really sounds wonderful blaring out of the stereo or headphones.

Original CD and 12" vinyl versions of the virus single are now very expensive on the second hand market and whilst it is also included on the 'visions of the beast' dvd- the DVD version only has the sound available in Dolby Digital stereo that is inferior in quality to CD.Contrary to the decidedly uncommercial disposition of heavy metal in its pre-halcyon days, Iron Maiden were quite radio-friendly, scoring hits in their native country and presaging post-"Black Album" Metallica's crossover appeal and huge live following. Maybe you would be able to grab stuff from cars with your teeth afterwards with having lost the use of your hands to a flashing scimitar ? Both "Virus" and "Afraid to Shoot Strangers" had promotional music videos created, the latter of which was filmed during The X Factour with new lead vocalist Blaze Bayley replacing Bruce Dickinson, who sang the original studio recording. The limited edition also two songs from the band’s 1979 demo tape, The Soundhouse Tapes (“Iron Maiden” and “Strange World,” of which the latter one was previously unreleased). Fans can argue till the cows come home about which tracks should or shouldn't have been included, yet to try and alert people to Iron Maidens music by way of a simple CD that only has a max 80 mins play time requires the compiler to make track selections that may or may not please a die hard maiden fan, this album was undoubtedly aimed at newcomers or casual fans at the time of release.

I hope the minimal money you got for this second hand CD minus it's case and the other stuff you decided to take without my permission while damaging my vehicle pays toward your accidental heroin overdose ! The track listing differs slightly between the various editions of the compilation album, but consists mainly of the band's singles and most well-known songs from their 1980–1995 albums. In 1990, a box set titled "The First Ten Years" was issued, offering collectors an exhaustive coverage of their consistently majestic singles, B-sides and all, in the digital format. The 4-disc vinyl pressing, meanwhile, contains the entire Soundhouse Tapes EP on its final side, again with the addition of "Strange World" from the same sessions. While fluid in the early years of the band, the lineup for most of the band's history has consisted of Harris, lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson, drummer Nicko McBrain, and guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers. It is an amalgamation of his most famous works with the band, featuring Eddies from the Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere in Time and No Prayer for the Dying eras, as well as those from " The Trooper", Live After Death and a redesign of the Killers album cover. There was Edward The Great with it's awkward inconsistent track list or the obvious cash grab Somewhere Back In Time.

It's safe to say that every track on this collection is a winner but the difference between the two makes them both worthy of a pick up.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. If anyone else fancies a taster CD of the Iron, this one is for you, oooo and try also Live after Death ! Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. If your going to turn it up to 11 get some ear phones, it wasn't sociable listened to loud music back then and nothings changed. The standard edition's value has not changed much although the Japanese pressings continue to rise in value.
