The Catahoula Leopard Dog was originally established in the Northern part of the wet and wild state of Louisiana, close to the Catahoula Lake. To this day, these spotted dogs are the only breed in history that originates from this state. It’s a unique dog from a unique part of America. While Catahoula’s importance in his native region is undeniable, its true origin is unclear. There are a few theories surrounding this unusual breed, but two seem to be most popular. One is that the Catahoula Leopard Dog was first bred by Native Americans in the 16th century, who crossed their own dogs with the settler’s Greyhounds and Molossers. The other theory proposes that French settlers bred their Beauceron dogs to Native Americans’ blue-eyed canines. Regardless, this special hybrid came as a result of the same unique mix of cultures that make Louisiana such a remarkable place. The American English Coonhound was first brought to the United States by European settlers during the 17th and 18th centuries. First called “Virginia Hounds (and imported to the U.S. by Robert Brooke, Thomas Walker and George Washington), the American Coonhound was bred to adapt to a more rigorous terrain. These dogs were used to hunt raccoons and the American Red Fox. The American Coonhound was also used to hunt opossums, cougars, deer, boars, bobcats and bears. For humans, Devil’s Claw in any format is considered a safe, short-term solution with few side effects. Over time, however, it can aggravate stomach-related issues including ulcers, gallstones, or other gastrointestinal sensitivities. It’s also recommended that Devil’s Claw not be taken by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Although they’re known as “giants,” this breed is simply a larger breed, and is only really a larger version of the Standard Schnauzer. These dogs don’t have to be as intimidating as they sound, but you should certainly know what you’re doing if you want to be able to acquire a dog of this breed, train it, socialize it, and help it to grow into the confident, friendly dog that it deserves to be. If you’re a good owner, you’ll probably find that the Giant Schnauzer is perfectly capable of being a good dog in return.

French Chow dogs can safely be considered moderate shedders. Inheriting the fluffy coat of the Chow Chow, these hybrid dogs might leave some hairy trails on your furniture, especially when it’s shedding season. To that end, you should establish a regular grooming routine, brushing lightly a few times per week. This will help you maintain good hygiene and to keep your pet’s coat as free from loose hair as possible. Baths, on the other hand, should be kept down to a moderate level, as you wouldn’t want to dry out your pet’s skin. In 1996, Joe was able to get a Munchkin cat, and it turned out that this kitten had Persian in her ancestry. Then, he was able to get an Exotic cat. When the Exotic and Munchkin had a litter of kittens in 1997, they had the characteristics that Joe was hoping for. However, with proper socialization and early training, Catahoula Leopard Dog will not be aggressive, stubborn, or aloof. They will be great companions and a loyal friend to their family to the very end. Even so, these are not cuddly and goofy canines that will seek the couch or become velcro dogs. These are dogs who need a specific task or purpose in their lives to keep them happy.

Like all Schnauzers, it’s no surprise that the Giant Schnauzer hails from Germany as the country of its origin. Specifically, the Giant Schnauzer comes from the Bavarian areas of Germany, making it a true German country dog and one that has been bred and well-suited for an outdoor lifestyle. The Giant Schnauzer rose to prominence at the dawning of the 20th century, giving it a similar timeline to many of the more popular German breeds of today, including the German Shepherd. Closely related, of course, to the Standard Schnauzer, the Giant Schnauzer also comes from a lineage that includes German Pinschers. A relatively new and hybrid dog breed, the French Chow is not listed on the American Kennel Club list of accepted breeds. Likewise, it is not listed on the worldwide Designer Breed Registry (DBR), the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC), or the Designer Dogs Kennel Club (DDKC). Still, this doesn’t mean that the French Chow is not on a stellar path towards inclusion in either one of these lists! French Chow won’t prove to be an overly athletic breed – their energy levels are moderate. Not unlike most designer breeds, a unified look is hard to pinpoint when it comes to French Chow. Breeders often have no clue how a litter is going to turn out: the mix between the parent breeds is often unpredictable. However, the French Chows do have some traits that are shared across the breed. And in recent years, increased attempts were made at creating a unified French Chow appearance. Still, when it comes to the parent breeds, the history is hefty. As the name suggests, the French Chow is a unique combination between the goofy French Bulldog and the fluffy Chow Chow. The former actually originates in England (contrary to its name), where it was first bred and known as the “Toy Bulldog”. The emergence of a smaller, “lap dog” version of the English Bulldog came about with the banning of “bull baiting” in 1835. This was a dangerous “sport”, in which bulldogs were pitted against enraged bulls. From England, the Toy Bulldogs crossed over to France, where the small breed was refined and grew immensely popular as a cuddly and affectionate family pet.Despite what its name suggests, many people do not believe that the Chinese Crested actually originated in China. For one, the Chinese Crested does not keep in line with a number of ancient Chinese dogs like the Pug or the Chow Chow. The Chinese Crested has too recent a history to be counted among those breeds in pure historical longevity. I was chatting to my vet today. He is a homoepathic vet and uses these methods along side conventional medicine. There are three varieties of Poodle, and according to the American Kennel Club, the oldest of these varieties is the large or ‘Standard’ variety. The Poodle was bred to have a water-resistant coat – which helps explain the quality of the current dog’s coat – that was eventually groomed and patterned according to taste and style rather than worrying simply about functionality. Other types of Poodle today include Toy and Miniature. Although they retain the main traits of their full-sized relatives, their compact size makes them a perfect fit for condo and apartment dwellers. They are generally quite well behaved pooches who can get on well within a small space and can be left alone for extended periods of time without causing too much trouble. Where the French Bulldog is a generally small-sized breed, the Chow Chow is without a doubt robust and bulky. So what about their outcome? Who do the weight and size lean to? And the answer is no one! The French Chows are somewhere in the middle between the two parent breeds and can be fitted in the medium-size category. In general, you should expect your pet to be between 30 and 50 pounds in weight, and around 14 inches tall.

If you’re a pet owner, you’ve probably had experiences where your dog showed up in the middle of a situation at an inconvenient time. Perhaps it’s when you’ve just cleaned the floor and he chooses that moment to run across it with muddy paws. Things like this happen but you probably aren’t concerned about it, much less bothered by it. Birds do it, bees do it – hey, it’s natural! But it can be hard to do when someone is watching you. That’s why you may ask if it’s okay to have sex in front of your dog.Originally, this breed was called the Napoleon, but The International Cat Association (TICA) changed it to Minuet in 2015. It was interesting when he said there would be no benefits to changing him over. He is at just as much risk of suffering liver/intestinal damage with DC as he with Metacam. Translate all of that into dog-speak and it’s not surprising the same concerns apply to your four-legged buddy. Side effects from over-dosing or extended use can include vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach discomfort. And as above, this is not a recommended course of treatment for pregnant or nursing dogs. It’s also not an appropriate supplement for animals with diabetes or those taking other medications. That’s why running the use of Devil’s Claw past your veterinarian, is an important first step. Technically a type of hound, the Beagle’s unique identity is thanks to its easy-going and easy-to-get-along-with nature. It’s cute enough for anyone in your household and loyal enough to melt the heart of even the most stubborn anti-dog people around. For many people, a Beagle is a perfect addition to the home – it’s not often where people have to wonder if this breed is “right for them.” The question is: are you right for a Beagle?
