About this deal

There is also a Limited Edition SteelBook version (see packaging photo below) with the same specs and bonus material as the standard “plastic” edition. The rest of the disc is made up of archival extras, including a short roundtable discussion between Scorsese, Winter, Hill and DiCaprio (I wish this had been longer), two EPKs (which actually manage to cover quite a lot of ground) as well as eleven minutes of behind the scenes footage.

This new 4K release presents skin tones with a much cooler and more realistic hue, removing that overt orange push completely and replacing it with a wonderfully nuanced and much more realistic set of colours. Featurette: "Running Wild"(UHD, 11 minutes) - DiCaprio anchors this slick featurette and talks about various subjects, including the "bold, daring, and dangerous" elements of the film, how he brought the colorful Jordan Belfort to life, and the "intense and terrifying" quaalude scene. The disc extras emphasize that this was an actor-initiated project, with star Leonardo DiCaprio seizing onto a character he wanted to play. Meanwhile, Stephen has offered up his thoughts on Sidney Lumet’s Prince of the City (1981), new on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection, as well as Wolfgang Peterson’s The NeverEnding Story on German-import 4K Ultra HE from Constantin Film. The film’s most infamous scene, where Belfort and his business partner Donnie (Hill) overdose on quaaludes, even finds Scorsese moving into slapstick territory, with phenomenal results.

In an inflammatory assessment of the legendary director (a choice quote, for example, was that Scorsese didn’t believe in cinema. And, how about the infamous scene where Belfort’s second wife Naomi is teasing him in their daughter’s bedroom? First up, I’ve given Cameron Crowe’s semi-autobiographical love letter to rock music, Almost Famous, a look in a fantastic new 2-disc 4K Ultra HD Steelbook edition from Paramount. The joy and hilarity of watching The Wolf of Wall Street does not rest solely on Scorsese’s shoulders however.

The lack of an audio upgrade is disappointing, but the inclusion of a couple of supplements that didn't make it onto the 2014 Blu-ray is a plus for fans, who will also appreciate the transfer's enhanced clarity and broader color spectrum. Co-starring Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, Jon Bernthal, Jon Favreau, Jean Dujardin and Joanna Lumley. Like Little Caesarand The Public Enemy, The Wolf of Wall Street depicts a lofty figure's rise and fall and is both a classic morality and cautionary tale, yet unlike those Prohibition-era gangster yarns, it's a serious film that doesn't take itself seriously. Whether whispered or shouted, delivered in a quiet room or amid the roar of a poolside bash, the expletive-laced lines are always clear and comprehendible. Nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor, The Wolf of Wall Street is a monstrous masterpiece, equal parts hilarious and horrifying. There’s plenty of craziness throughout the entire film and that gives the channels plenty to work with.

The Wolf of Wall Street - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray - High Def Digest

The Blu Ray version of this film was already at a high standard, but HDR and the added level of visible detail improve upon it. For all its hilarity and taboo inducing high jinks, The Wolf of Wall Street does slow down in its final hour to find genuine darkness in Jordan Belfort’s story. Without any major surround theatrics or trouser flapping LFE bombs, this track is all about the dialogue and the overall balance of all the audio components and in both regards, it's spot on.faithfully preserved using a 10-bit video depth, both High Dynamic Range flavours (HDR10 and Dolby Vision) and is encoded using the HEVC (H. For those that do, the film looked incredible already on Blu-ray and the differences that you may see, like Jonah Hill’s suit a bit brighter, may be a negligible improvement to warrant an upgrade.

Wolf of Wall Street 4K UHD - Blueprint: Review The Wolf of Wall Street 4K UHD - Blueprint: Review

The year I turned 26 I made 49 million dollars which really pissed me off as it was 3 shy of a million a week. The first, helmed by Simon Ward, provides an insightful and technical breakdown of the comedy of The Wolf of Wall Street, directly comparing it to Scorsese’s other outright comedy, After Hours. Watching this film can definitely turn your stomach at times, but it also serves as a cautionary tale in doing what it takes to get to the top.He opens the door and raises his arms in celebration as an office full of formally attired men applaud him and cheer. The glamour is indeed eye-catching — the clothes, the cars, that yacht with Jordan’s personal helicopter on top. The commentary from film critics Glenn Kenny and Nick Pinkerton is deliciously meaty and informative, offering a great balance between technical analysis, characters discussion and tying the film into the rest of Scorsese’s work. While one might be forgiven in thinking that the gains of a 4K release of a relatively new film would be marginal, a comparison of images taken from the previous 1080p release (note that this reviewer hasn’t seen the 2021 Paramount 4K UHD release) and this new release form Arrow show that this just isn’t the case. Most of the women we see are objects to be used, like the party girl who allows her hair to be shaved off, proving that people will do anything for money.
