About this deal

Jurgen has another advantage: he's a Blank. Psychic and warp powers simply cease to function around him. Which has come in quite handy on several occasions. I was really happy to see two short stories told from Jurgen's point of view in this volume. Hive Store Ltd 2020. (hive.co.uk) is registered in England. Company number: 07300106. Saviour of the Imperium - Sandy Mitchell - Google Books

Fight or Flight • For the Emperor • Echoes of the Tomb • Caves of Ice • The Beguiling • The Traitor's Hand In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, mankind’s mighty Imperium is threatened on all sides by its enemies – brutal orks, ravening tyranid hordes and the corrupt armies of Chaos. Many are the heroes who stand at the forefront of this endless fight against evil, but few names conjure up as much awe and respect as the legendary commissar Ciaphas Cain. When all seems lost, Cain, his trusty but malodorous aide Jurgen, and the Valhallan 597th, can always be relied upon to ride to the rescue and save the day! With their thrills and spills, and tongue in cheek humour, the Ciaphas Cain novels offer a unique vision of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. At least that's what most people see. In these first-person viewpoint tales, Cain sees himself as a self-serving coward and hypocrite. His first action on any world is to try for a post as far from danger as possible and to make sure there's a shuttle berth with his name on it for a hasty retreat.

Does anyone know if this book is still being printed? The seventh, eighth, and ninth novels, were collected into a third omnibus entitled Ciaphas Cain: Saviour of the Imperium in 2018. A Mug of Recaff • The Smallest Detail • The Little Things • Last Night at the Resplendent • The Bigger They Are • The Only Good Ork • Three Questions The tyranids may just be the greatest threat the Imperium has ever faced, voracious extragalactic monsters intent on devouring all life… but they’ve never had to contend with Commissar Cain! These three novels tell tales of Cain vs the tyranids – plus there are t’au and zombies too!

Content Warning: I have no filter, so browse at your own risk if you have triggers, especially for #randombullshit posts) Commissar Ciaphas Cain joins his new regiment, as far behind the front lines as it's possible for him to arrange. Unfortunately, he discovers that life with an artillery regiment in the Imperial Guard is not always just about sitting a half a continent away from the enemy and pounding them with shellfire... especially if the enemy are Tyranids. For instance, in For the Emperor, the first full-length Cain novel, Cain refers in passing to the First Siege of Perlia, which earned him much of his unwanted notoriety, but this event is not depicted in any detail until Death or Glory, the fourth novel. The first three novels, as well as the short stories Fight or Flight, Echoes of the Tomb and The Beguiling, were collected into a single omnibus entitled Ciaphas Cain: Hero of the Imperium in 2007. As always, Cain is accompanied by his aide, Gunner Jurgen, who is technically still a member of the 12th Valhallan Field Artillery, although we learn in one of the book's novels that Jurgen has been with Cain for seventy years! Jurgen is the perfect aide. Devoted, single-minded, brave, and possessing the skills needed to assist the Commissar. He also smells worse than a pile of dead Orks, has breath that makes Tyranids gag, and an unending series of skin problems. Which are helpful when keeping people from bothering the Commissar. Most folks can't stand to be around Jurgen for a second longer than necessary. Compilation of novels and short stories featuring the very popular and much loved character Ciaphas Cain in a third Omnibus edition.

The tyranids may just be the greatest threat the Imperium has ever faced, voracious extragalactic monsters intent on devouring all life… but they've never had to contend with Commissar Cain! These three novels tell tales of Cain vs the tyranids – plus there are t'au and zombies too! On a tour of inspection on an aquatic world, in a sector uncomfortably close to Tau space, Cain and Jurgen take full advantage of the Governor's hospitality and conduct most of their tour from his luxurious submersible yacht - until a group of pro-Tau terrorists strike. They succeed in killing the governor and are intent on steering the ship on a suicidal collision course with the Imperial fleet in orbit. Cain and Jurgen manage to escape in an emergency pod, before the yacht is destroyed by the fleet's weapons.
