I think I enjoyed Giant's Bread the most; especially how Christie captured the thoughts and imaginings of a young child. You can’t wait for the ending because you hope for a positive beginning but know deep down that it may not happen. Having read all the books she’s brought and exhausted all her writing paper, Joan is forced into days of idleness which led her inexorably into self analysis. It's about a rather smug woman who has to spend a few days at an isolated middle east desert outpost while waiting for a train, with no one to talk to and nothing to do.Much of the writing is stream-of-consciousness style in this short book, easy to read, but powerful in it's effect.
