About this deal

Once the patio cleaner is applied, it’s time to wait. Depending on the product and for the full effects, we recommend waiting a few hours for the majority of patio cleaners, but it could be minutes for those with little patience to just a few days or sometimes even one week. This is when the cleaner works great, breaking down dirt, grime, and tough stains. Once the treated area has dried, it’ll be fully safe for children and pets. This is because it contains no acid or bleach. I found this patio cleaner really easy to use, especially as it requires no scrubbing or rinsing away. It does have an overwhelming smell of vinegar which, whilst reassuring me that this is an all-natural product, did mean I had to make sure the windows stayed closed after application so the whole house didn’t smell of it. Algon claims that it can take up to two weeks before you see results, but I started to see the moss and algae lifting off the surface within a couple of days and after a week there was a very noticeable difference. Like everything else, there are significant differences in effectiveness, quality, and price. If you’re serious about maintaining a new patio or restoring an old tired surface, You do need a little patience with this one. While the effect varies, you might find that, for the first day or two, nothing much seems to have changed. However, as time goes on, all that slippery algae and stubborn mould will disappear, and the longer you leave it, the better it gets. And while it seems expensive for what it is, this one bottle of concentrate makes 30 litres of spray, so you won’t need any more for a while unless you’ve got vast, palatial gardens. It’s the most effective of the spray-and-go cleaners.

The concentrated formula is highly effective whilst being reasonably safe to use. It doesn’t contain bleach or acids, but kids and pets should still be kept away until the area is dry. Also, you’ll still need to take extra care when handling this solution, to avoid harm to your eyes and skin.Although the ready-to-use formula means there’s no preparation involved, it isn’t without elbow grease as you do have to scrub after application. First the area has to be cleared of any large debris, then the cleaner applied and left to soak in for 30 minutes, before giving it a good scrub with a brush. Then the next step is to rinse the cleaner away. Again the type of material your patio is made from can make a difference as you need one that is suitable for your surface. Multi-surface options are often cheaper than specialised surface cleaners. If you’ve tried other patio cleaners in the past, you’ll likely find that this product (and its active ingredients) help achieve a cleaner patio for longer. Whichever you choose, it’s important to follow the instructions and use appropriate protective clothing. And, depending on the solution, you might have to keep pets indoors for a period of time.

On testing, this was actually a fun patio cleaner to work with. There’s no dilution or pre-mixing required, you just attach a hose pipe, turn the nozzle to on and get spraying. The spray is pretty fierce, so make sure you’re prepared when you turn the hosepipe on because I ended up covering an area way bigger than I intended to. But it’s easy to use, the bottle is a good ergonomic shape so it feels comfortable to hold and direct. The nozzle also means you can accurately reach the area you want to cover and as it can reach up to 8 metres it was perfect for roof areas as well as the patio. She's one of Ideal Home's expert reviewers, and tested the Stihl RE 120 PLUS Pressure Washer at her home in Devon to give us her verdict on whether it's a star buy. FAQs How do I choose a pressure washer for my home? Cleaning a patio is equally easy. Apply and leave for 30 minutes, then scrub with a yard brush and rinse. The results are very good and, as this cleaner contains no dye, it won’t alter the colour of any light coloured surfaces. Jeyes Fluid Ready To Use Outdoor Cleaner is a popular cleaning product that’s been designed for a multitude of cleaning jobs. Whether it’s removing the algae and lichens from your patio, cleaning your greenhouse so your plants can get more sunlight or hygienic cleaning of animal areas this one bottle will do the job. It comes in a small 500ml bottle which covers up to 3.8m², that’s about the size of a small pathway. Or there’s a 4 litre bottle that will cover up to covers up to 30m². Both are reasonable priced, and the ready-to-use solution is a real timesaver, although if you're willing to dilute yourself then the Original undiluted Jeyes Fluid Outdoor Cleaner will work out the best value. If you don’t fancy doing a lot of scrubbing to get your patio clean, the HYDRA DeGreen Patio Cleaner should be in your cupboard. This patio cleaner removes algae, moss and green fungus, and it doesn’t need washing off afterwards. The following advice will help you make an informed choice and choose the best patio cleaner for your outdoor space.
