About this deal

Ultramax 400 may be a Jack of all trades, but it’s not just a cheap film that makes pretty pictures in most environments.

The Kodak Kodacolor Ultra Max 400 GC Color Negative Film ISO 400, 35mm Size, 36 Exposure, 3-Pack is the ideal film for all conditions, and now gives brighter colours. WE HAVE BEEN PROVIDING PHOTO PROCESSING SERVICES SINCE 1983 AND HAVE THE EXPERIENCE, EQUIPMENT AND EXPERTISE TO GIVE YOU THE BEST QUALITY RESULTS ON TRADITIONAL, SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC PAPER (NOT INKJET! But remember that this is a 400 speed film; we should expect that it’s not going to be as smooth as Provia or Ektar.ISO 400 film is a great, versatile choice to have on hand for shooting in daylight or lowlight conditions.

My name is Bastian and I am your expert here when it comes to ultra wide angle lenses, super fast portrait lenses (ranging from a 50mm f/0. These days it is just as expensive as any other color negative film and whenever I came across it, it had been sold out shortly after. Even when enlarged, Ultra Max 400 Film delivers excellent sharpness and fine grain for crisp, clear pictures. Ultramax has T-grain emulsion technology, the same as in Kodak T-Max, which allows it to capture great colours and detail at ISO 400.This image is part of a batch I developed in partially-exhausted chemicals, which yielded thinner negatives. Ektar and I never got on, and I’ve only shot a roll or two of Portra, can’t say it wowed me too much.

The difference is that M6 will probably hold its value for many years or decades, if not gain in value even still, which is not the case for digital cameras (well, it happens with some, but not on the same scale). I completely agree that it makes shooting film fun because you’re pretty much guaranteed you’ll get excellent photos.Since UltraMax is already sensitive enough, you can use your lens at higher f-stops and with the camera set at a faster shutter speed. ISO 400 high speed film, perfect for all situations whether its is action, snapshots, daytime, flash or poor weather. When the CP crew and I chose our desert island film (the film that we’d each shoot for the rest of our lives if we could only choose one) I picked Ektar, a high-saturation color film from Kodak’s fine Professional line.

Blues and yellows and greens are perfectly balanced, while reds are nicely restrained, which is a blessing since many consumer-grade films seem to oversaturate in the reds. Overall I feel it’s a lackluster option compared to Kodak Gold which I believe is the more comparable alternative in terms of pricing and use.Even with a perfect metering technique, UltraMax will exhibit different looks depending on the colour, intensity, and complexity of ambient light. However, since the film is daylight balanced, you will want to account for the light sources you’re using when taking photos. Others may have different preferences and it has nothing to do with any thoughts of Ultramax 400 being deficient. OK, if you are after the most perfect skin tones, and next to no grain, then it might be worth splashing out on the Portra range. As I mention in the accompanying YouTube video - Ultramax 35mm is a wonderful 'middle-ground' film that is great at many things without excelling in a niche, unlike the more expensive Portra or Ektar.
