About this deal

Most tuning stability issues with strings come from the string ball attachment (the lump at the end that stops the string sliding through the bridge!) or from poor stretching out when first fitted. Strings remained feeling snappy and bright for a noticeably longer time. There is an improved low-end compared to a coated set when recording via DI, and they feel more evenly voiced with less volume difference between strings; everything is nice and loud. Even with a few extreme bends as a test and they haven’t broken yet! They haven’t corroded at all, despite having played a couple of long wedding gigs and regular practice sessions in warm, humid conditions.” Unbreakable? I’m not sure why this was chosen as the main “tag line” for these strings. Ok, so it’s cool to have Paul Gilbert and John Petrucci saying so, but surely the tone is important as well? Do they break – not for me. I’ve given them very hard use and they haven’t broken so they score highly on this aspect. All of our guitarists noticed a definite improvement in tone and longevity with Ernie Ball’s Paradigm strings. Even during one of the hottest summers in years, they retained their bright tone where other strings may have given up, thriving in a variety of real-life situations, such as gigging, recording, and practising.

Are Paradigm strings worth it? We put Ernie Ball’s most innovative guitar strings to our team of guitar staff to see what they thought…If you own a high-performance sports vehicle, would you put the cheapest possible tires on it and use the cheapest engine oil? Bit of a false economy, wouldn’t you say? Buying strings at this price point will likely be 1-2% or less of the cost of your guitar, and you want the best out of your guitar, don’t you?

To find which Ernie Ball electric guitar strings are right for you, the key is experimentation. Figure out which strings sound best to your ear, feel best on your fingers, and enable you to create the music you want to create. As a starting point, consider our best-selling Regular Slinkys, played by artists across many genres on stages big and small. Regular Slinkys’ ever-popular 10-to-46 gauge, often referred to as “10s” or “10 gauge,” provides players with a nice balance of tension and tone. I’ve been using the Paradigm strings on my Ernie Ball Music Man JPXI for around 3 months now and they certainly haven’t dulled down or broken – they certainly last the course and offset the additional initial cost. String Gauges and Sets Player’s thoughts:“Brighter tone. They have kept their ‘new’ sound for much longer. Smooth bends and better balance across the strings than my previous set.The Paradigm strings seem to require very little stretching out when new and I have had absolutely no issues with the ball attachment moving.
