If LeapReader is connected to LeapFrog Connect, disconnect LeapReader from LeapFrog Connect by pushing the “Eject” button and disconnecting it from your USB cable. Originally I had issues with connection and the Leapfrog connect software being slow and temperamental but after removing my Antivirus software which was what I believe to be causing conflicting issues with the Leapfrog software I managed to download the books on to the pen with no issues at all.

If you would like to change your download language preference, you may do so through the LeapReader settings tab.On the surface i thought it looked expensive for what it was, however the pen has so much more to offer. By connecting LeapReader to a computer you can see your child’s progress, expand the learning with fun activities and get personalized skill insights. The Tag pen device works with specially made books which include an optical pattern of dots too small to disturb the reader.

Tag requires a Microsoft Windows or Mac OS computer running LeapFrog Connect software to populate the Tag with audio for books. Your child can listen to popular stories like the Magic Tree House series and classic books like Clifford the Big Red Dog, sing along to learning songs and more. Loved that it helped with difficult words and allowed numbers and letter writing to be massively improved.The software downloads book audio from the LeapFrog web site and transmits it to Tag via a USB cable. Practice reading by exploring interesting stories with the LeapReader® System and 5 Book Learn-to-Read Set. The Tag stylus and the proprietary Tag books are primarily targeted to young children learning to read.

Touch the interactive pages using the LeapReader® system to sound out letters and words or follow along with the stories as they’re read out loud. A computer with an Internet connection is required to download books and activity sets onto the LeapStart® system.

The entire LeapReader library includes more than 150 titles for children at different stages of the learn-to-read journey, so there’s always more content to keep them engaged and learning! LeapFrog Enterprises introduced it as the successor to the LeapPad which served as a platform for interactive books.

If you are interested, the software for the pen also downloads usage data from the pen when charging. Now, children can practice not only sounding out letters and words, but they can also practice writing those letters and words using LeapReader.Sadly, when it arrived, it turned out to be a version of the LeapStart Go system, another similar concept introduced by LeapReader, and it wasn’t compatible with the LeapReader. Update: At 6 years old he can actually read all his Leapreader books but still enjoys using them with the pen when he wakes up very early to keep himself entertained in the early hours. It says 4-8 years but it should be fun for your children however old they are and they learn so much! Most activites have two levels so kids can play and learn at the right level and move up when they're ready.
