About this deal

Tonight I sit in bed, writing this review, after finally finishing this book series. I've read a few dragon books and this one... This one is one of my favorites. The mix of fantasy, humor, and romance, along with jokes and a wonderful storyline, it's definitely a book I will be returning to someday. Unable to process these feelings the way a dragon could—by focusing on their own awesomeness—the fomor pointed his spear at Demonling Victor, to fry him with his lightning. “You shall take your wits with you to the grave, mortal! [Ragna-” We need to cooperate,” Manling Victor said. “With Your Majesty’s destruction of the barrier, not only can we move all in, but whatever is trapped there will try getting out. I have no idea what kind of creature lays in wait inside, but the more numerous we are, the better.” Likewise in contrast to the immortal dragon, is the rather squishy minion Victor. A mortal from our world, who still wants to go home, but now finds himself as the chief minion and second in the foodchain (an important place to be) to Vainqueur. He is a character in direct juxtaposition and serves to balance and showcase the dragon, at the same time he too begins to learn his place in the world and grow.

No… the System had given him vision; the unthinkable will to lay down his life for the sake of his species' survival. For the first half of the story there is little threat to Vainqueur with parts later feeling less tense (because he is a huge freaking dragon) than other stories. This worked really well for me and my current mood, but might not float your boat.

Poison? What was this? Manling seasoning?” The count smiled, although it strangely did not reach his ears, and sweated so much Vainqueur wondered if he would die of it on the spot. Was he ill? After a few minutes of firebombing the land, Vainqueur finished remaking the Woods of Gevaudan into a nice, smoking hellscape. “There, troll problem solved!” Vainqueur said, happy with himself. “All we need is to claim the reward now!” Of course not,” Vainqueur said, horrified that the thought even crossed his mind. “She is worth more than gold to me, no matter how much I spoiled her.”

It’s called sadness,” Demonling Victor struggled to scoff, the fomor’s mighty blow having shattered his ribcage. While he could survive the heat, he couldn’t breathe through the smoke well. “Get used to it!”And what do my eyes see but...competent technician writing skills?! What madness is this? The author...knows how to use commas!? I MUST DO THE DANCE OF JOY! Oh, and the author is actually French. I’m pretty sure punctuation in French is pretty close to English, but 10th grade French was a long time ago. Either way, it’s a non-native speaker doing better on the technical side than most native-speakers in this genre. This has been a journey... We went from a prideful, arrogant, narcissistic dragon with a mountain full of gold... To a dragon GOD with the entire WORLD as their hoard... With all their pride, arrogance, and narcissism still intact, despite everything. Every adventurer starts with an aluminum plate,” Victor explained, the wind in his face causing his lips to move in ways Vainqueur found distracting. “That’s the ranks. Aluminum, copper, iron, bronze, silver, gold, and starmetal. I’m an aluminum adventurer too, Your Majesty.”
