I’ve tried this a number of different ways using both bourbon and rye, and using demerara simple syrup vs. no simple syrup. Go glam with your bramble by adding a splash of champagne to the mix. Just make the drink as normal but reduce the amount of crushed ice by about a third to leave room for the fizz. Then top with 25-50ml of champagne, mix gently, add a bit more crushed ice, garnish and serve. A couple things, it’s literally only a quarter of an ounce, so I’d consider giving it a shot if you do happen to have a bottle of Campari. The purpose is just to cut the sweetness a little bit, and you honestly really don’t taste much of the Campari.
