About this deal

Regrettably, not everything about running Android apps is perfect. Many useful apps that we regularly use on a smartphone don’t scale quite right on Chromebooks, leaving us with very small text on certain apps. Additionally, the Kindle app isn’t available on full screen mode in portrait orientation. Underneath the tablet, you'll find two rubber strips that keep the machine firmly planted on your desk. The two ErgoLift hinges hold the keyboard and screen together and smoothly allow for 360-degree motion, providing just enough resistance so it doesn’t feel like you're snapping the machine in half. Overall, the build quality is more than sufficient. At just 2.5 pounds, the Asus Chromebook CM3 is a featherweight, weighing a half-pound less than our previous Editors’ Choice winner, the Acer Chromebook Spin 713, and almost a full pound lighter than the HP Chromebook x360 14a. (Granted, the CM3's screen is two inches smaller than what these competitors offer.) But the compact size is a high point for people who value portability: The CM3 measures just 0.7 by 10.6 by 8.5 inches (HWD). As a tablet, it'll be a little more unwieldy than an Apple iPad, but don't forget that it's also more versatile, since it's a full-fledged laptop with a keyboard. Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a major Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer based in Taipei, founded in 1989. Under the Asus brand name, the company manufactures a wide range of products, including laptops, desktops, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, smartphones and networking equipment, complete systems and PC components for end users.

Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues. The CM3 makes use of a Mediatek processor, instead of the usual Intel or AMD offerings. ARM-based processors from Mediatek and Qualcomm are usually found in low-cost Chromebooks like this one, and typically perform about as well as other bottom-rung chips like the Intel Pentium or AMD Athlon. Most aren't unbearably slow, but there's a considerable power gap between them and midrange chips from AMD and Intel, and an even bigger gap between them and Apple silicon, which is also ARM-based. (Here's how to choose the best laptop processor.) Still, the CM3 is one of the best-performing ARM-powered Chromebooks we've tested, as you'll see below. Portability aside, the Asus Chromebook Flip seems to have been specifically designed for tablet use. Asus has added a clever magnetic clasp that pulls the screen lid tight to the underside of the notebook. It’s an inspired detail that helps the 2-in-1 Chromebook feel like one solid machine rather than a foldable electronic, and we’re surprised this solution hasn’t come sooner. The touchpad is better, being larger than expected, thanks to the extra palm rest space afforded by the taller display. It’s smooth and responsive, providing precise control over the cursor and supporting all the usual Chrome OS multitouch gestures. Versatility is the essential selling point of the best 2-in-1 Chromebooks, which makes the Acer Chromebook Spin 311 an obvious choice for our list.

The Asus Chromebook Flip is one of the best 2-in-1 Chromebooks for shoppers on a budget who don't want to give up too much on style and performance. The new Apple M3 is the "most advanced chip ever built for a personal computer," according to Apple. Debuted during Apple's "Scary Fast" event and sporting a new process, the M3 promises up to 60% higher performance in some apps. But will it really be worth an upgrade over the M1 or M2? ASUS Official Certified Refurbished. They are professionally tested and restored to factory default state. May have light cosmetic blemishes in some cases. (Buyer pays return postage). Combining a lightweight and svelte chassis with a 2-in-1 form factor that adds to its versatility, a level of performance to match that of flagships like the Google Pixelbook, and a price tag that’s accessible, the Asus Chromebook Flip has set the standard for these higher-tiered devices. It’s why it’s become such a beloved Asus laptop, and still among the best Chromebooks after all this time. Finally, as we usually recommend, Google’s Pixelbook Go should be on your list if you don’t need the flexibility of a 2-in-1. It’s more expensive, but it also has long battery life and a stunning display that can’t be beaten. How long will it last? Our final test puts the battery through the wringer. We run a 720p video of the open-source Blender movie Tears of Steel with display brightness at 50%, audio volume at 100%, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned off until the system taps out. If the computer doesn't have enough storage to hold the video file, we play it from an external solid-state drive.

I liked this display at least as well as the ones on the more expensive Asus Chromebook Flip C536 and Acer Chromebook Spin 713 Experience the convenience and versatility of our sleek and portable tablets for on-the-go productivity. Everyone knows that Chromebooks are not powerful gaming laptops, but that won’t stop us from running the next benchmark, GFXBench 5.0, which is a cross-platform GPU benchmark that stress-tests both low-level and high-level game routines. The CM3 did do the best, but every machine in this test performed poorly, in both the 1440p Aztec Ruins test and the 1080p Car Chase test. If you’re looking to do some gaming on the go, your best bet is a Windows-based dedicated gaming laptop. The Asus Chromebook Flip CM3 is a budget Chrome OS 2-in-1 that exceeds the expectations established by its low price. It’s slower than I’d like, but it has great battery life and a solid, comfortable chassis. The keyboard could be larger and the touch screen a little more responsive, but the touchpad and active pen are excellent.Weighing in at 2.6 pounds (1.19kg), the Asus Chromebook Flip is one of the most lightweight Chromebooks around, only 0.3 lbs heavier than the Samsung Chromebook Plus. It’s also one of the first convertible Chrome OS computers you’ll actually want to use in tablet mode, unlike the 3.3-pound (1.5kg) Acer Chromebook R13. Embrace the Freedom of 'Nothing’- Introducing a revolutionary line of phones that embody simplicity and sophistication. Enhance your visual experience with our high-resolution monitors for immersive gaming, work, or entertainment. Enhance your setup with our range of accessories, from keyboards and mice to speakers and cables, for a seamless computing experience. Premium Chromebooks occupy their own space in the laptop market, bridging that gap between powerful traditional laptops and super lightweight Chromebooks.

This is a standard display format for tablet computers or small convertibles. You see more on the screen than on a smartphone but you can't use big resolutions well. On the other hand, mobility is not a problem.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List. And, the Asus Chromebook Flip C436F is perhaps one of the very few examples of these out there, with its combination of superb power, terrific feature set, premium build and a price tag that’s cheaper than its rivals. We enjoy using Android apps in tablet mode just as much as sitting down with the Asus Chromebook Flip as a conventional Chromebook for long browsing and writing sessions. The hybridization of Google’s two platforms also finally allows us use mobile apps along with the staple elements of Chrome OS. Like the Asus Chromebook C100 before it, the Asus Chromebook Flip is fitted in an all-aluminium chassis, though this time it comes with an anodized finish instead of a brushed texture. Overall, it has a clean, no nonsense look, and folds up to a nearly symmetrical slab of metal.

The Asus Chromebook Flip CM3 feels solid enough to last for years of typical use. The biggest question is how Chrome OS advances — if it requires more CPU power at some point, the Asus Chromebook Flip CM3 won’t be able to keep up. The one-year warranty is fine at this price. Should you buy it? The hinge on the display has enough resistance to keep the screen in a given position, but was easy enough to open and close, or convert into tablet mode for note taking during a meeting. By far one of the best 2-in-1 Chromebooks we've ever reviewed, the Acer Chromebook Spin 713 takes everything that's great about their Spin form factor, like a 3:2 display ratio, and adds in some seriously powerful hardware for a Chromebook like an 11th-generation Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor.
