Emerging in the late '70s as part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Def Leppard gained a following outside of that scene by toning down their heavy riffs and emphasizing melody. Had an on off relationship with the Leps over the years but have to day this album is the best since Hysteria.

Excellent new release from Def Leppard, but when you have already released one of 'the' studio albums of all time (Hysteria) - how can you better it? S. Billboard Hot 100 number one "Love Bites", alongside "Pour Some Sugar on Me", "Hysteria", "Armageddon It", "Animal", "Rocket", and "Women". Think Def Leppard's classic sound but this time it's larger, more exhilarating, and more cinematic than ever before. On Through The Night’, the band’s debut album, was released in 1980 and immediately put the rock world on notice.

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, this bold new approach to the orchestral hits formula sees new vocal and guitar recordings from the band. Housed in rigid boxes, the set also contains a hard-backed book with rare photos by Ross Halfin and liner notes by Classic Rock's Paul Elliott. The album charted in the top ten both sides of the Atlantic and also featured a collaboration with country and Western star Tim McGraw on Nine Lives.The record itself charted in the US top twenty and the UK top 75, this is the first time the album has appeared on Vinyl. Suonano in perfetto stile "vinilico", ottima registrazione, forse qualche basso di troppo, ma nulla di fastidioso. The album's goal, set out by producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange, was to be a hard rock version of Michael Jackson's Thriller, in that every track was a potential hit single. They have the classic Pyromania style heavy metal Dangerous, All Time High, the pop pop orientated Let's Go, Sea of Love and even a more funk based song, Man Enough. Seriously, considering it’s length, it still retains Hysteria’s iconic sonic punch whilst bathing in theatrical nirvana.

The picture disc features the main album artwork on disc one side A and Ross Halfin promo photos on sides B, C and D.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Its less loud than the 2017 pressing, the bass and the drums have less power, but to me it sounds more balanced and the listening for me is more enjoyable. Its hard to sum up this album but my favorite memories of this was when I would listen to this album on the way to vacation in Wild Wood NJ which was an obscure amusement ride mecca.
