About this deal

Instead, you’re kept subservient to their wishes, tossed under the metaphorical bus and forced to deal with the fallout. Because your starting team is so bad, working to slowly upgrade it and your production levels makes for a solid challenge. Each of these cards gives some special abilities as well as a colored dice chart which shows how they will vote on events. It’s about the economics of managing a soccer club, putting the right players on the field, board room decisions and even getting sponsors for your team. The table is setup to start the game – markets for advertisers, staff members, and regular players are made – 5 cards from each respective deck – it is helpful to separate the rightmost three cards (available now) from the two on the left (coming soon).

But then you also have to add three card markets for new staff members, new players (including a separate stack for adding rookies, known as “youngsters”, to your team), and new sponsors. In each week, there are 5 turns, the first day being a setup day, the middle three representing a regular weekday and the final turn being the matchday that comes on the weekend. I’ve learned to enjoy the game for what it is, and not trying to make it fit into the reality of actual club management nor matchday planning. There’s nothing to stop you lining your team up against your opponent, but it’s just too random to have any tactical merit. Then there’s the basic resources as well as tokens for injuries, suspensions, strength, weakness, and victory points. You know which team you’re playing, and how their strategy is, but you only reveal their exact line-up when you’re at the kick-off.

Many professional and national players have emerged from our Italian neighborhood known as The Hill. The phases of Monday and Friday are resolved simultaneously, but Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday you will play in turns with other players. Eleven is a strategic game by Thomas Jansen (Club Stories, Tavern, Streetpainball) set in the world of football. There are veteran players, who add to the team’s strength while they’re not quite ready to be put out to pasture.Dale, 1 game against the first solo scenario), I am ecstatic that I backed the game with all the goodies (I think the improved components will fix Dale’s issue with the icons). Also, the game can get a bit wonky as the game even allows two humans to play a game against the same AI team in a given week.

There are a few mini-expansions which add to the game, and the International Cup in particular adds those player vs player rules. Some staff cards offer the ability to get more tactics cards, but if those cards don’t come out, it can be quite difficult to play an appropriate formation against another team, and you may not have the advantage of being able to play a second tactics card for its unique power. The theme is so well applied to the game, and the engine-building is very clear and simple in practice. This includes situations such as fielding a weak team of youngsters while trying to avoid relegation. One of the resources produced on Mondays can lead to bonus actions from your Board of Directors or other cards, but usually no more than 1-2 extra actions a week. You’ll then flip the opponent card, revealing how they’ve allocated their players and what those players’ offensive powers are, and based on that, figure out the score of the match.
