About this deal

Personally, I would’ve appreciated a subtitle option that showed the source material of the videos used, similar to what Criterion did for The Velvet Underground documentary last year. Also, the glue that is supposed to make everything stick together is Bowie's words -- the recollections, descriptions, and confessions -- but they are not matched properly to make the tone, energy, and style of the visuals come together well. Featuring footage of Bowie performing and being interviewed as well as previously unseen concert footage released by his estate, the documentary follows his creative journey to become one of the most successful artists in musical history.

Brett Morgen's Moonage Daydream is a little over two hours long and combines a lot of concert footage and clips from archival interviews to produce an overview of Bowie's career that won't be everyone's cup of tea. Features captivating, never-before-seen footage and performances spanning David Bowie's 54-year career including The Jean Genie, Aladdin Sane, Space Oddity, Heroes, Let’s Dance, Modern Love, Young Americans, Changes, and many more. It is a genre-defying cinematic experience based on one of the most iconic and global rock stars of all time, destined to be one of the defining cultural moments of the year. He’s also honest about some of Bowie’s professional failings, most notably his admission that, after he scored a major mainstream success with his 1983 album Let’s Dance, he became comfortable with stardom and settled into a state of artistic stasis, at least compared to his still-astonishing creative run from late-’60s to the early ’80s. We have premium ad space available on the home page and sponsorship available on The Pop Culture Beast Show, our hilarious and popular podcast (formerly known as SHOW). But here's the thing with Moonage Daydream: it has access to millions of hours of footage from the Bowie estate and probably ends up being the closest film to get to the enigma that is Bowie, with concert scenes, key musical interludes (Heroes provides one of the film's goosebump moments) and intimate access to his paintings that were never really put on display for the world to see. I'm also the author of two self-published books, "The Camp: Stories from the Summer" and "The College: Stories from King's. The quality is as new superb not a flaw and my communication with the vendor I found to be polite , helpful , gave good advice and utmost friendly with excellent service skills .

Chief among its omissions is mention of Bowie’s cocaine addiction during much of his (unhappy, according to the documentary) time living in Los Angeles during the 1970s, which peaked with a moment in 1976 when he was photographed waving to a crowd at Victoria Station in London in what appeared to be a Nazi salute. Yet there's no denying Moonage Daydream is a music documentary the likes of which we've not really seen before. Through it all, Morgen interlays moments of societal influences and cultural touchstones, providing clues and snippets of where in the world we are and what timeframe. But it could also be said to describe the feeling that Morgen inspires with the impressionistic way that he renders the life and art of the glam-rock icon on screen.

Indeed, it is edited in a way that makes very large sections of the film look as if they were prepared for a gigantic MTV video or special program. Add to that mix, the latest movie trailers, and you're pretty much all up to date - thanks to Darren's World of Entertainment! Extras: Language(s): English, Hard of Hearing Subtitles: English, Subtitles: Dutch, French, German, Italian, Interactive Menu, Screen ratio 1:1.

For one, Morgen acknowledges the history of mental illness in his family that affected his beloved brother Terry, and how it may have influenced some of his art.

It's no lie to say at the start, it's a visual overload, scenes interlacing, quick cuts, screaming fans, and musical mayhem all coagulate into one opening sequence that's heady and thrilling. If you're looking for the standard issue biopic, like the director Brett Morgen's earlier documentary, 2012's Stones biopic, Crossfire Hurricane, then Morgen's take on Bowie might not be for you.
