About this deal

The LG 34GP83A-B and the Acer Nitro XV340CK Pbmiipphzx are both 34 inch ultrawide monitors with a 1440p resolution. It should be fine for co-op gaming or sharing content casually, but it might bother professionals who need perfect image accuracy. It has a wider gamut than the sRGB (mainly in the cyan-green range of colors) and is widely used in professional printing. The 34-inch LG UltraGear 34GP83A-B features a Nano IPS display that achieves a response time of 1 ms GtG while providing a visual experience compliant with the VESA DisplayHDR 400 specification. With quick cyclic switching between different color tones, an illusion for a new intermediate color tone is created.

It has low input lag, exceptional response time, and a high refresh rate, making it great for gaming. In love with good mechanical keyboards, vinyl and tape sound, but also smartphones, streaming services, and digital art. However, keep in mind that not all games support an ultrawide format, so you might see black bars at the sides, or the image might be stretched to fill the screen. Display Information about the main characteristics of the display - panel, backlight, resolution, refresh rate, etc.

difference at the moment (Prime Day deal on the 34GP83A-B) might not be worth a slightly higher OC refresh rate G-Sync Ultimate vs regular G-Sync, and upgrading HDR 600 from HDR 400. It makes you feel like you’re playing your games at a cinema, and by spanning the entire field of view of a player, you get to enjoy immersive experiences, as well as a tactical advantage on fast-paced games. It has a large screen that provides plenty of space for multitasking and a high resolution to render text clearly.

While it supports HDR, it can't deliver a satisfying HDR experience because it has a low contrast ratio, no local dimming, and doesn't get bright enough to make highlights pop. Unfortunately, while it gets bright enough to overcome glare easily, it isn't enough to deliver a true HDR experience. I'm mostly writing this to inform other Linux users who use Nvidia GPUs my experience with the UltraGear, and not "hey look at me I'm a Linux user".

Other gaming-oriented features like Dynamic Action Sync, to reduce input lag, Black Stabilizer, to improve clarity in darker areas, and a crosshair overlay, to elevate you aiming to the next level, are included.

HDR expands the contrast ratio (peak luminance and minimal black levels) and color palette to achieve more details across the whole image - from the darkest parts to the brightest ones, which results in more realistic and life-like image. I ran the EIZO monitor test and could not be more thrilled with the panel quality as I have no dead pixels and I have a Gamma that is close to 2.If you're in a well-lit room where glare is an issue, the Acer has better reflection handling, but the LG gets brighter. The 34GP950G has a local dimming feature, but it's pretty bad, so this doesn't add much over the 34GP83A-B. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the width is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio.
