About this deal

The other characters are just as boring with the most distinguished probably being Kronar who at least has a few interesting traits. Their only chance is to join an expedition to a deadly country to steal the eggs of vicious dinosaurs. The story told in their dual perspective with alternatively voiced chapters They both are starkly different from each other.

I can honestly say that there were no cons in this one for me, I just wish everything would stop being compared to The Hunger Games, because, while it has SOME similarities they're also really different, and in comparing the two I feel like there are certain expectations, and those expectations may or may not be met. Five words to describe this book are: enticing, fast paced, action packed, emotional and descriptive. It is in small chapters following the characters, twists and plots so that it is easy to find a suitable place to stop reading but still entertaining enough to make you want to read more. The duel narrative between Stormchaser and Lincoln also helps the reader engage and empathise with their decisions as they get to know more about them as the adventure unfolds.

Lincoln also has a secret mission - to bring back the ingredients for the cure for the disease which is killing the population, as well as his sister. The Extinction Trials is a rollercoaster ride into a dystopian world that has been ingeniously created by S. and ahhhh if the author’s writing- the world building, the character development, the plot pacing, all of it- was just a bit more, well, THERE, a bit more immersive. I absolutely adore Jurassic Park, so I was a bit nervous going into this as it’s marketed as ‘The Hunger Games meets Jurassic Park’ and I didn’t want it to be a let down. The Extinction Trials is set in a world where the birth of babies is controlled by the ruling elite and schools don't exist.I did find the start of the book a bit hard to understand but as I kept on reading it all started to make sense. It’s about the possibility of extinction and the quest for survival…oh and did I mention there are dinosaurs! Alone, o It’s Intense, nerve wracking and action packed, I spent the second half of it on the edge of my chair unable to tear my eyes away.

I really, really loved this book, the characters, the concept, the world building, everything about it was fascinating and exciting. He just wasn’t that fleshed out, and whilst I didn’t hate his perspectives, I definitely preferred Storm’s.

I must admit, when this book was presented to me as ‘Jurassic Park meets Hunger Games’ I was somewhat sceptical. One of the selling points of this book I feel is the scope it has, within the book but also in its readership, I myself thoroughly enjoyed the journey and can’t wait to start reading the next instalment, it had the same buzz I had when reading The Hunger Games and The Lord or the Rings. But they have their own priorities – finding a cure for the plague that’s sweeping Earthasia, and keeping themselves alive. it has a mysterious reptilian cover that wills you to open the pages to begin and then, before you get to the first chapter the reader is greeted with a map, (love a map, of a new unexplored fantasy world) it may be a basic one, but once again it encourages and excites you to begin an adventure that I'm positive you will not be able, like myself, to put down.

Dinosaurs are a staple of the Under 7s literary landscape, but for some reason they become ‘geeky’ somewhere between here and the teenage years. This guy gives her weird looks throughout the book, this coupled with the fact that they both have the same “unusual” eyes, it still took someone else politely mentioning it for her to realize that this guy may be her father. This is a 380 page rollercoaster of a ride, it's full of twists and turns that will keep any reader of 10+ , even reluctant reading boys, totally engaged. I like the conflict between Storm and Lincoln’s motives – Lincoln says family comes first, but Storm wants to do what is right for the world. The Extinction Trials are told through the point of views of Stormchaser Knux - let's take a pause here.
