The rest of the album drifts by nicely but doesn't make much of an impression, save the singalong "Plenty of Girls in the Sea" which stands out a bit from the tracks either side of it. Always taking an unexpected creative turn at every new record, but always maintaining their cultural and commercial relevance over the subsequent 15 years, MGMT later released three further studio albums: " Congratulations " (2010), "MGMT" (2013) and "Little Dark Age" (2018). The result is a diverse and powerful collection of 10 songs that directly mirrors the duo’s encompassing surrealist view of the everyday. The successor to 2008’s Oracular Spectacular and 2010’s Congratulations , MGMT sees the band continuing to push themselves to expand the boundaries of modern pop music.

Even with cosmetic and audible defects in my very used copy of Oracular, this is an album YOU HAVE NOT heard until you’ve listened to it on this medium. The inner sleeve has glossy artwork (lots of concentric circles on one side, and lyrics printed on the other side). Titled 11- 11-11 in honor of that date, the music will finally be released on all streaming platforms on 11- 11-22, the 11th anniversary of the hour-long, one-off concerts.Unclog your ears and you'll see that if there is any justice at all these guys will be the Strokes/Franz Ferdinand of 2008 because they are better than either of them. and liked it, the rest of the album will certainly not disappoint - but there's enough variety that you'll not be bored by the time track three rolls around. As other reviewers have stated, there are slew of discernible influences in their music, if you choose to go looking for them, but no particular artist or era stands out as a primary source.

While it may not be to the commercialisation standard of Oracular Spectacular, this is every bit as eclectic and sophisticated as that album. MGMT release their fourth album Little Dark Age - the follow-up to their 2013 self-titled album is released via Columbia.Definitely a stand out album of the 00s (and definitely a unique band) and should be up there with the likes of Green Day's American Idiot, The Killers' Hot Fuss and Radiohead's Kid A in the best alt rock albums of the decade.
