About this deal

The new version, however, is exactly what I was seeking, a dry but slightly sweet leathery feel, with some galbanum/pine and "dirty" jasmine to give it some contrast and body.

Additionally, although the fragrance would likely have more appeal to men in their late 30s and up, I see no reason why a confident, younger man in his 20s couldn't pull this off - quite nicely, in fact. After the green notes have mellowed down a bit, there appears a dry accord of brown leather, aldehydes and incense that's somehow very familiar. An Aramis devotee, I began wearing Devin soon after it was introduced in 1978, really liked it myself, and received lots of compliments on it. I do find the balance (and integration) of fresh, bitter and sweet to be a little off, although, surprisingly, but the sweetness works really well in hot and humid weather. It's definitely retro, kind of soapy and mossy, but not cheap smelling -- it's actually very put together. Be warned however that this is probably not for everybody, it is a masculine scent that is more authoritative than all this metro-sexual hodgepodge that a lot of companies throw out these days. If I had a son and who was turning 18 and about to go off to University, this would be the perfect gift. It's vintage through and through but there's a powerful animalic tone that is overpowering and lingers from the start till the end. Devin leans more towards the masculine side, but there is a slight “feminine” element lurking there. not a ground breaking cologne but just a really nice pleasant quality solid scent for a man to wear, not pretentious , i could see this around an office environment also.Comparisons to Polo Green are lost on me other than their shared use of pine and I find Devin altogether different and inferior. The first blast is quite sharp and you might be inclined to think that you would not like it initially, after a few minutes the ingredients settle with each other and form a wonderfully fresh scent, as the name implies, similar to a fresh country smell on a mild day (perhaps after some rain). I live in the city but come from a tiny village, and this stuff appeals to the country side of me, even though I can't say that I've ever smelt anything exactly like it in the country. Some comments tend to use term "Oldfashioned", which is true for people who forgot how the nature, or animal smells, but have seen the grass only in city park, or see some animal in the zoo, or on their lap top while smelling on some sweet designers rubbish.

This scent is actually quite an appealing and pleasurable fragrance, and it has that in common with all the other Aramis fragrances I believe, they are all rich, and have this addictive clean musky talcum powder tangy sort of soapyness in them, which must be the Aramis signature. blast, strong and herbal lavender followed by an aldehydic and floral sweetness ,is there but the notes are very well blended I can't individually name any one ,at this stage it reminds me of my grandfather's aftershave,a leathery note steps in that gives the impression of tree bark when it marries that piney topnote, very vintage smelling I am seeing Magnum P.

If you're a man and want a woody perfume, instead of an ozonic/calonic type thing check this out, there are no aquatic notes in here at all.

There is also some carnation sweetness balancing it underneath and I'm reminded of Guerlain Mitsouko (namely, the peach and oakmoss combo of Mitsouko) as well as Encens Mythique and Ambre Eternel. This classic fragrance comprises of top notes of lemon, orange, bergamot, lavender, artemisia, aldehydes and galbanum. Devin, and its sister scent Alliage, have the potential to be the King and Queen of green masterpieces, but sadly it's looking like they will be reformulated out of existence and confined to history by government interference. The Molinard smooths out the slightly off notes of the Aramis product and provides it with a very needed lift. On that note, my Father is a total outdoors guy, Hiking, Fishing etc, I always see him as a modern Jeremiah Johnson, I bought an extra bottle of this Fragrance as a present for him so that kind of sums up what I mean, It's a fragrance for an outdoors guy with a connection to nature. In my opinion this would be for a more mature man who wears colognes from 80’s and his wife tells him; Hey you need something a littler fresher, maybe for the summer. At first I much preferred Devin to Polo Green, but after wearing it almost daily for a few months, I'm not so sure. Unlike Polo (or Yatagan), Devin quickly transitions into something smoother, the suggestion of a shaving-foam-fougere-like soapiness that strongly reminded me of another 70’s classic, Azzaro Pour Homme. A dark green cologne for men from the 70's and though it's as outdated as bell bottom pants and jump suits for men, it's a breath of fresh air in our world of modern chemical messes and gourmand sweetness for men. Profoundly green with a chypre undertone, a super warm, sunny-meadow heart, with thickness of jasmine and honey and yet not sweet.
