About this deal
It was a captivating mystery full of twists and turns and very well written and fresh, unique, quality storyline . The story is told in a mix of past and present as we are brought up to date with Nell's life and why 25 years on she is obsessed with discovering the identity of the Brighton Mermaid.
This book features a lot of damaged characters and that was a great change from the usual gung-ho heroes you often find in books and who are just slightly too together to feel real.Moving forward to the present day and Nell is still obsessed with the Brighton Mermaid, and with Jude’s disappearance.
The Brighton Mermaid combines a highly original plot and relatable, sympathetic characters with a juicy mystery and a host of secrets.Personally, one of the strengths of this book is how it weaves it into the story; without becoming a non-fiction book on modern society, it simply reflects out society (accurately, as I believe) in the context of a fictional story and that’s what gives the message all its power. I'm also really used to her writing style which I find really effective, having females as main characters and using different chapters to go back and forth between 2 periods of time.
Fast forward twenty-five years and the mystery of who The Brighton Mermaid was and who killed those women are still unsolved, and Nell's best friend Jude is still missing.Unputdownable novels such as Rose Petal Beach, The Ice Cream Girls and That Girl From Nowhere all embody her phenomenal talent of writing genre-crossing bestselling books!
