Ensure the wood substrate is sound, smooth, level, clean, dry and free of any dust, dirt, wax, loose paint, incompatible curing compounds or fire retardant chemicals, fungicides, release agents, sealers, or any other foreign substances that might interfere with a good bond. The setting time is fast, but will allow adequate working life for most envisaged applications using hot and cold pressing techniques.

Please note: If bonded wood is to be turned on a lathe, it is recommended the wood be seasoned for a minimum of one week before turning. One Shot adhesives are ideal for use with a vacuum bag press where curved panels are being constructed. As they are one component, meaning no mixing required, and water based, so relatively safe to use, PVA wood adhesives. Ideal for joinery, cabinetwork and assembly gluing, particularly when small amounts of glue mix are needed, or when demand is such that the use of a liquid adhesive is uneconomic. The Fast Curing Winter grade is ideal for colder environments or for a faster cure time requirement.

PVA’s have shorter shelf lives so will lose their ability to give a good bond the older they become. Mixing - Use a dry, preferably non-metallic container, and add water to the powder gradually, stirring to ensure the powder is evenly mixed.To ensure that a consistent glue mix with the correct properties is obtained, mixing by weight is strongly recommended. There are a number of differences between the two types of adhesive, even though they are both desigined for bonding wood and timber. The powder system enables extremely good gap filling properties ensuring water does not enter the joint and produces the strongest bond. Since we have acquired the brand in April 2023, we have reformulated the Cascamite adhesive back to how it used to be many years ago. Ureka’s PVA’s include Woodstikk D3 PVA Wood Glue (a D3 grade woodworking adhesive) and Woodstikk D4 PVA Wood Adhesive (a higher water resistant D4 grade woodworking adhesive).
