We receive many requests for permission to reproduce parts of our liturgy or other items from Celtic Daily Prayer Books 1 and 2. I'm a busy catholic benedictine mother of a three year old boy so time is of the essence when trying to fit Offices into my day. Based in Northumberland, Northern England, the community connects people dispersed across the globe. I love the rhythm of this liturgy, the way the prayers work deep into your heart and mind (as you use them more and more), going with you throughout your day, and bringing you back again.

After the scripture readings and meditations, there is an opportunity to pray whatever is on your mind and heart, offering to God the concerns of the day, your personal needs and prayers for other people. A revised edition of this classic compendium of readings and prayers for every day of the year, with Celtic themes and inspiration. Daily Office (and indeed all the liturgies in this prayerbook) are best begun and ended with a period of reflective silence; and by affirming that the prayers are said in ‘the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This compilation of said and sung liturgies makes the Northumbria Community's 'Daily Office available to a wide audience. In this respect the Community follows the rich tradition of monastic communities through the centuries.

In the meantime, I'm tempted to take them out and laminate them for daily use, saving the rest of the book for their fascinating, inspiring readings. The words of the Daily Office are drawn from a variety of sources, such as St Patrick’s Breastplate, Teresa’s Bookmark, Columba’s Blessing, etc – and from Psalm 27 for Morning Prayer, Psalm 90 for Midday Prayer and Psalm 130 for Evening Prayer.The Office can be said anywhere, but, for Morning and Evening Prayer, it is recommended that a quiet place, as free from interruptions as possible, is chosen. There is also clear guidance on how and when to use the material in imaginative ways, and on the benefits of utilising the imagery and themes of Celtic Christianity.

The digital version also includes the Scripture inline with the text, AND music audio for each of the sung liturgies. Having purchased the previous physical copies of Celtic Daily Prayer and used them now a good few years I was very glad to be able to get this on Kindle. A friend of mine suggested that I get this book to help with my daily quiet time, because I was struggling to find something to hang my routine on without becoming stale. This is a rich treasury that is loved and trusted by individuals, ministers, families, groups and communities across the world.

The Daily Office – Morning, Midday and Evening Prayer – is at the core of the life of the Northumbria Community. It also provides a two-year cycle of insights and daily reflections with accompanying scripture readings for use in morning and evening prayer.

Many have found that the use of the CD whilst travelling to or from work by car can be very helpful. As a result, they are very precious to us and we ask that anyone making use of them does so with respect. Our lives are usually too full of noise, so this is the ideal moment of the day to experience real silence. For those unaccustomed to recited prayers, it will be new and invigorating, even if the strangeness of it may take some getting used to. Celtic Daily Prayer is also available as an INTERACTIVE E-BOOK published by HarperCollins and available for a variety of devices. I am tempted to dissect a copy and scan it into several PDF files to make it more manageable for daily travel ~ (maybe on a monthly or seasonal basis) - Unfortunately it is not offered in any e-formats of PDF or Kindle versions to my knowlege. I had hoped for it sooner as I was on sabbatical 2018/19 and had to leave the physical copy at home.
