Add finding a fine lady to love and appreciative neighbors and I was all-in before I was even halfway through the novel. I read way too much (according to Kindle 636 books last year) and have something like 30 stories I follow on RR currently. And I'm getting the fuck out of here, and far away from all the sword formations and Grand demonic dick punches or whatever the fuck these chuuni bastards spout. The characters are enjoyable, and each one dosen't feel like reused characters like in the normal xianxia stories, and it is a breath of fresh air on the xianxia.

Indeed, Jin Rou was not powerful, but he was diligent, and always willing to tend to the less desirable tasks around the sect. It is slowly shifting into a more adventurous mood as of book four, some of the main characters start to move about and our cast interacts with the wider world but with constant life coming in, slice of life feels like it will continue to be the main focus.

The hardest problems aren't ones that power can solve, they're universal, internal, and interpersonal. The usual tropes of xianxia are present in this world but the MC decides from the start that he does not want to be a part of that dog-eat-dog; survival of the strongest world.

Seriously, the majority of every character's inner monologue is about how amazing the protagonist is. But it had the benefit of sparking curiosity and led me to want to understand the popularity of some of these sub-subgenres that largely come from serial web fiction. My axe hewed through trees, My saw made planks, my hammer drove in nails, and my plane made things level, fueled by the supernatural strength of cultivator, even if I was an exceptionally weak one.The story begins when he decides to leave the sect to become a farmer, as far away from the world of cultivators as possible. Dear old Jin was essentially a servant right now anyway, and had to do every task that the other people offloaded onto him, while harboring vengeance and hate and angst. Beware of Chicken 1 could have been a standalone novel and it didn’t really cry out for a sequel, though it did leave itself open for one.
