We’ve always worked really closely with the East of England Co-op, and this year has been no exception. Throughout a tough period for everyone, we’ve been so pleased to see our sales grow and we put a lot of that down to the personal touch. A bag of crunchy and punchy homegrown potato crisps that are made for the chilli lovers out there, giving you a herby and sweet finish after each bite. We also grow our own special varieties of crisping potatoes which are hand cooked on the farm to the highest possible standards which is why we’re BRC (Grade AA) accredited.
We harvest potatoes, maize and rye on beautiful farmland across the Colne Valley just north of Colchester in Essex. We also appreciate that we can just pick up the phone and ask questions if we need to, and we can only see this relationship growing stronger in time. In fact we export to about 20 countries including Mauritius, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, Germany, Norway, USA and Canada. The 2022 potato harvest across the UK and Europe has been impacted by the very dry, exceptionally hot weather this summer. We harvest twelve different potato varieties, maize and rye on beautiful farmland across the Colne Valley just north of Colchester in Essex.POWERED BY RENEWABLE ENERGY As well as growing delicious potatoes and crisps, we are passionate about making our processes as sustainable as possible and strive to be a carbon-neutral company. We really do believe we have a duty here; with the country’s self-sufficiency dropping year on year it’s all the more important that the land is put to efficient – and environmentally sympathetic – use. I wanted to say how glad I am to have found them, amazing flavour and best potatoes I’ve tasted in a long time. We’re particularly excited, though, to be really focusing on what a sustainable future means for us.
Fairfields Farm also grow their own special varieties of crisping potatoes which are hand cooked on the farm to the highest possible standards. These delicious sweet chilli flavoured potato crisps have been homegrown and handcooked on Fairfields Farm so you can enjoy every crunchy bite with a sweet but fiery chilli flavour that we all love! As a result every packet of crisps can be traced back to the potatoes used and the exact field they were grown in. We already have a lot going on at the farm, including tree planting programmes, our solar panel array and the anaerobic digestion plant (which gets fed maize and rye and makes energy), but we know we can do more, particularly when it comes to biodiversity.We really believe that to understand a small business like ours you need to see it for yourself, and so visits from our contacts at the East of England Co-op to the family farm are always welcome.
The skin-on potato crisps have a deep creamy flavour, with just a touch of zesty onion, a firm favourite in our household, and hopefully yours too. Robert and Laura’s venture has been rewarded with numerous Great Taste Awards and accolades for true local provenance.
