Expect juniper to shine, with a certain dryness in the palate accompanying beeswax, and a lingering note of sea salt in the finish. Height of Arrows showcases Juniper’s complex flavours, while additions of Isle of Skye sea salt and natural beeswax, marry with juniper to impart a further depth of flavour and create a layered texture. This translates to “height of arrows” as it was believed this was as high an archer could shoot an arrow.

With the opportunity to bring single malt distilling back to the centre of Edinburgh after almost 100 years, Holyrood Distillery does so with flavour at the forefront. Height of Arrows is a gin that allows gin fans to explore a new direction in modern gin making; one that elevates today’s gin drinking experience.To create Height of Arrows we employed the same principles, focusing on juniper as our sole botanical only using additional ingredients to intensify flavours and our gin’s texture. For this Heavy edition, the juniper has been roasted, extracting more flavour to create a more robust style. The Gaelic name for the mountain is Àrd-Na-Said, which literally translated means the ‘Height of Arrows’ as the mountain was believed to be the furthest distance any archer could shoot an arrow. Taking inspiration from the brewing heritage of Scotland’s capital, the distillery base all their spirits around their ‘whisky mindset’.

Through a continuous process of experimentation and exploration, they’ve hit upon a game changer — a gin that will make waves in a saturated sector and help build a foundation for Holyrood now and in the future. Beeswax creates an incredibly smooth, oily texture that marries with the natural juniper oils to create a juicy juniper forward gin with an incredible mouthfeel.
