About this deal

I still don't know if I want to read the rest of the Clifton-Saga too, because I prefer single novels.

Harry and Emma build a love deeply rooted in honesty, but may face insurmountable challenges because of one lie. It just didn't impress me enough, even though I will say that this first book was definitely an entertaining read. Gifted with beauty and spirit, but above all with indomitable will, she sets out in pursuit of an ambition that dwarfs both Kane and Abel, as she battles for the highest office of all .I liked how the other characters filled into the story all the bits that Harry was blissfully unaware of. Jeffrey Archer hits it out of the park with this epic tale of a young boy trying, with the help of his friends and family, to make his life something no less than extraordinary.

He won the Prix Relay du Roman d’Évasion, a prize that rewards a novel in which readers can ‘escape from everyday life’, for his novel Paths of Glory, and the Prix Polar International Prize for the best international thriller of the year, for his novel A Prisoner of Birth. The William Warwick series features the eponymous hero of Harry Clifton’s novels, William Warwick, through the ups and downs of his career as he battles against a powerful criminal nemesis and aspires to become Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Force. Only Time Will Tell takes a cast of memorable characters from the ravages of the Great War to the outbreak of the Second World War, when Harry must decide whether to take his place at Oxford, or join the fight against Hitler's Germany. while on a luxury liner sailing to New York a battle for power is about to turn to murder in cold blood. But when the front door closed I stood by the drawing-room window and watched as the car disappeared down the driveway and out of sight. It may sound strange, but: Archer's novels are not quite thriller, not quite family drama and not quite history novel, and yet, it's ALL of it!

But it will be another twenty years before Harry discovers how his father really died, which will only lead him to question who was his father? Only Time Will Tell takes a cast of memorable characters from the ravages of the Great War to the outbreak of the Second World War, when Harry must decide whether to take his place at Oxford, or join the fight against Hitler s Germany. Only Time Will Tell is the first in the thrilling Clifton Chronicles series, beginning with the birth of Harry Clifton in the backstreets of Bristol in 1919.

He is the only author ever to have been a number one bestseller in fiction (nineteen times), short stories (four times) and non-fiction (The Prison Diaries). Eton has been known to bend the rules when it comes to members of the aristocracy and will occasionally allow a stupid boy to darken its doors, which is why I selected Percy for my little subterfuge in the first place. The novel is set in Bristol, England, from 1919 to 1940 and centers on Harry Clifton, a young boy destined to follow in the footsteps of his father and uncle and work on the docks until a new world is opened up to him.

It is not poorly written and will satisfy those readers who love series, love adventure stories, love plot-oriented books and love solving a puzzle. I listented to it and it made my 3 miles on the treadmill bearable and that is what I want in an audiobook. And I get why that is because it is a pretty straight-forward, easily read story about several families, several destinies and several points of view that entwine. In The Short, The Long and The Tall the master storyteller joins forces with renowned illustrator Paul Cox, to re-imagine twenty of Jeffrey Archer's most popular and feted short stories alongside beautifully rendered watercolour illustrations. Lots of characters told porkies along the way and I was on my guard from early on that what they said could not be taken as gospel.Arthur dies and Maisie raises her only child by herself and wishes to provide him with the best education. Stan Tancock - Maisie Clifton's brother and Arthur Clifton's best friend and co-worker, a high-functioning alcoholic. The author excels in doling out tiny crumbs of suspense and keeps the tempo up to the last page where it ends with a really excellent cliff-hanger…. There are slightly overlapping timelines shared between the characters but I liked this structure as it allowed for a greater understanding, not only of the character viewpoints and motivations but in the way it brought to light more and more subtle information. Once we’d handed in our papers and reverted to our true personas, I went off to tea with my pa, in Windsor.
