About this deal

Steffans tries to make it sound like she had relationships with a lot of famous hip hop stars and athletes but when she gets down to the details she mainly slept with them, sometimes in exchange for financial support. It's what i said first: the instant feelings of "love" (often in overlapping time frames), the surprise the boys wouldn't feel the same way or would disrespect her, etc. She is like a reality show star sure you know who she is but she can be easily forgotten as a person who was famous for a bit but she hasn’t really earned a career. But the film and music video sets, swanky Hollywood and New York restaurants and trysts with the celebrities featured in the pages of People and In Touch magazines only touches the surface of Karrine Steffans' life.

Because she has truly learned her lesson it makes me question her motives for writing the book (even though I thoroughly enjoyed it). She has written about her troubled childhood: she grew up in poverty, suffered emotional and physical abuse at the hands of an alcoholic mother and indifferent father, and was raped when she was 13. In one of the last chapters, she talks about her affair in 2004 with Usher, after she said that she had learned her lesson.Bringing their own unique and counter-balanced personalities to proceedings they ask questions such as: what is happiness? She tried to justify being so promiscuous, but none of it made any sense, so it was really hard to see her in any good light. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

When several members of the ring soon turn up dead, Billy abruptly pulls Kate out, blowing her cover. All told, I found this tale rather sad, as it should be, but almost more because of the shallow level of reflection/character than because of the actual abuses she endured and invited. I don't think she has changed much as I look at the other books she has pushed out to solitify her as a "superhead" or the ultimate bad girl in the entertainment industry. One day, I was doing IT maintenance--cleaning the computer next to him-- when one of the managers crept up from behind us and finally caught him in the act.

I'll admit my jaws dropped in places and I had to look blink twice to believe what I was reading, like where she said she dropped her son off with her abusive husband and upped and left. I was in the middle of reading The Innocents Abroad when my hold for these "Confessions" came through the Library so I picked it up downtown and read it shamelessly over the next week. The book is interesting enough to keep you reading and was definetly worth it because she's not shy about naming names. I thought if I screamed his name as loud as I could, God would hear me and allow me another chance at being a mother. The Vixen Diaries, published by Grand Central Publishing/Hachette Book Group USA (formerly Warner Books), entered The New York Times Best Seller's list at number six in the fall of 2007.
