About this deal

Although it is quite wide around the shoulders, it’s fairly compact from front to back and so not too difficult to get through a car door, though the integrated side impact protectors make this a little harder. Compared to a seat like the Sirona, the Solution Z-Fix feels a lot less bulky - indeed it weighs half as much, tipping the scales at just over 7kg.

At around 9kg it's considerably lighter than the Nuna MYTI (which is more than 13kg) and although still on the bulky side, it's very easy to install.I couldn’t find an instruction manual in the box though, and it was only when I watched the Cybex how-to video later that I realised it was hidden in a pocket underneath the seat cover, which seems a bit unnecessary! Cybex are renowned for designing innovative car seats, baby carriers and strollers, and one of their latest releases is the Pallas G i-Size, a Group 1/2/3 car seat suitable for babies from 9-months up to 12-year-old children, that aims to build on the company’s impressive reputation. Please ensure that the upper belt point of the 3-point vehicle belt always stays behind the belt routing of the car seat, so that the belt runs backwards and not forwards. Stand out features include a reclining headrest to stop your child's head dropping forward when they are asleep, something which we really like on other Cybex seats like the Solution Z-Fix.

I can easily see the seat lasting a child of up to 12 years-of-age, as the headrest extends well, the car seat belt strap is simple to use and fits well. Other safety features include the side pads of the headrest, which according to the brand, ‘actively guide’ the head of the child into a safe position in the event of an accident.

This is designed to prevent your child’s head from tipping forward if they fall asleep and ensure they stay positioned in the optimal safety zone in case of impact. System Plus can divert up to 20% of side-impact forces away from your child, when compared to the same car seat without an L. In a nutshell, this means it had to pass more rigorous testing with a particular focus on side-impact protection.

From the innovative lie-flat and rotating baby car seats to the practical pushchair travel systems and bundle offers, Cybex are always questioning the status quo and not afraid of challenging the establishment. The Pallas is not a 360 swivelling seat (you'll need the Sirona S i-Size for that) and so getting a planking toddler in can be tricky, but it doesn't need as much room as a rotating seat as there's no support leg to worry about. Plus, our eagle-eyed car seat experts will check whether this seat affects how much space any front passengers have. There's a soft and cosy one on the inside of the seat - which admittedly looks a bit shiny but is very comfortable - and a hard-wearing two-tone Twill-effect material around the shell. It also gives you that extra bit of reassurance as it's designed to stabilize the car seat and prevent rotation in the event of an accident. It requires threading the belt under the armrest – guided by a coloured marker – and into the car’s buckle, then sliding the top end of the belt under a small plastic arm beneath the headrest. Excess charges will apply to multiple boxes or boxes with a gross or volumetric weight over 20kg or of a larger size.

System Plus (Linear Side-impact Protection) and height-adjustable headrest with flexible side wings, ensuring maximum protection and comfort for your precious little one. One big plus is that my toddler has wriggled out of seat harnesses a couple of times before now, and there is no way she could do that with the impact shield. The Cybex Solution would be most attractive to those who want the latest in safety and value style too. Side protection and an adjustable fit deliver solid safety and support over the years, with flexible side wings to allow more room when there is more than one car seat in the car. Our tester Eden also loved the soft feel of the fabric and found the seat very comfortable, despite my concerns that the padding doesn't feel that thick in places. In the final test result, 11 child seats were rated "good", while eight seats received a "satisfactory". A baby must travel in the safer rear-facing position up to the minimum recommended age of 15 months.
