About this deal

That same watch has been tucked away in his sister's safe for all those ensuing years until a brazen daytime robbery occurs. In Dead Man's Time, the latest from international bestselling author Peter James, Roy Grace finds himself up against that most dangerous of all adversaries—a man with fury in his heart who has nothing to lose. Peter James is a British award-winning author born in Brighton in 1948, who has written to date more than 30 books, produced (or helped produce) 26 movies, including The Blockhouse with Peter Sellers, Spanish Fly and The Bridge of San Louis Rey with Robert de Niro. Het succes van de boeken heeft er ongetwijfeld toe bijgedragen dat James voor veel fans de beste Britse misdaadauteur aller tijden is.

This book hints at the conclusion, but one can hope the ensemble cast ensures that the series will go on until Peter James grows tired of them all. Following an entire page of characters conversing about criminals fleeing to Spain, one tells the other something about "Marbella, Spain", because obviously intelligent adults have no idea where Marbella is, nor could they infer it from the previous context, so better spell it out. If you do like thriller mysteries and want to pick up a new one for your reading pleasures, I can highly recommend the Roy Grace series by Peter James. He began writing earnestly in the early 1980s, but he had his first major breakthrough with Possession in 1988, followed by Dreamer in 1989. I think it's supposed to make him seem human and likeable but since he's constantly grinning in response to things that arent really funny it mostly just reinforces the sense that he's a bit of an dimwit, serving as he does as a proxy for the poor presumed-dimwitted reader.

Needless to say nothing got done today while I devoured this book, and I think it could be his best yet. under his belt, he has achieved global book sales of over 20 million copies to date and has been translated into 37 languages.Yet when a vicious gangster is released from prison and an unidentifiable headless torso is found, a nightmare unfolds before Grace’s eyes. And they are prepared to take the law into their own hands, and will do anything--absolutely anything--to get it back. In the eagerly awaited latest installment in the bestselling Roy Grace series, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace finds himself plunged into an unfamiliar and rarefied world of fine art; but beneath the veneer lurks greed, deception and violence. In the case of the Roy Grace series, you’ll get to know Detective Superintendent Roy Grace and other recurring characters more intimately as their stories unfold from book to book. Dead Man's Time opens with a scene from 1922 - a scared young boy is witness to his mother's death and his father's disappearance in New York.

Dead Man’s Time is the ninth novel in the multi-million copy bestselling Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series, from the number one chart topper, Peter James.

Behind the drab portrait they bought for a few pounds, they find a stunning landscape that might be a long-lost masterpiece from 1770 worth millions. And they are fully prepared to take the law into their own hands, and do anything, absolutely anything, to get it back. Inspecteur Roy Grace, die hoopte op een rustig weekend met partner Cleo en zoontje Noah, wordt op de zaak gezet. Peter James's bestselling Roy Grace series has been translated into thirty-seven languages, with sales worldwide of over eighteen million copies. And that by delving back into the past – a time in which we see Grace and his missing wife Sandy still apparently happy together – he may find the key to unlocking the current mystery.

If there's one thing I hate in books it's the reader being treated like an imbecile, and if there's another thing I hate it's awkward dialogue or thoughts that crowbar in explanations and exposition in painfully unnatural fashion. I think the majority of fans will love this book and newcomers should definitely read from the beginning of the series (although not an absolute necessity). It's only a partly rhetorical question, because I actually can think of one person who talks like that: Alan Partridge. Because as if the crushingly stilted sentence construction, or risibly sub-childrens-book level of characterisation aren't jarring and distracting enough, we'd better throw in some technological nonsenses to completely disrupt any tiny sense of immersion that this disaster of a book might, despite itself, have managed to generate. Het taalgebruik is mooi en vloeiend waardoor het verhaal lekker leest, de spanning is goed opgebouwd en er zijn genoeg intrigerende plotwendingen om het verhaal boeiend te houden.Within days, Grace is racing against the clock, following a murderous trail that leads him from the shady antiques world of Brighton, across Europe, and all the way back to the New York waterfront gang struggles of 1922, chasing a killer driven by the force of one man’s greed and another man’s fury. The body of a missing teenager is dredged from the seabed off the Sussex coast, missing vital organs. While author Peter James is best known for his award-winning Roy Grace crime fiction series, he has also ventured into other genres including science fiction and supernatural thrillers. Within days, Grace is racing against the clock, following a murderous trail that leads him from the shady antiques world of Brighton, across Europe, and all the way back to the New York waterfront gang struggles of 1922.
