About this deal

Deciding what avenue to take depends on where the nest is, how it is impacting you, and whether you wish to utilise it for pest control. Unlike beehives, wasp nests are annual structures, abandoned at the end of the season, and can appear almost anywhere. But meanwhile, my own experience (which has no scientific value when considered out or my place) tells me a few dollars were way better invested in 2 fake tissue nests than exterminators and insecticides. We have scientific evidence and test results which support Waspinator (see FAQ Does it Work) and we have only a tiny number of cases where it hasn’t – in most of these cases it is either due to a real nest very close by (see next paragraph), or where it has been poorly sited and where we can help to make it work – Waspinator is a visual wasp deterrent and therefore must be placed in a visible position. Keep any fallen fruits from nearby trees, shrubs or gardens picked up because wasps are attracted to sweet juices.

There are up to one million wasps per square mile in the UK, and you will need an awful lot of traps to kill them all. If you want to stop being bothered by wasps and get rid of wasps from these areas of the home and garden, just hang up a Waspinator and foraging wasps will think there is already a wasps nest in residence. This is usually calculated on the weight and value of the parcel and not something we can estimate cost for you. So I’m glad many people had the same luck than me; I’m sad some had issues, and I know that, one year or another… I will have a nest. You hang by extending and expanding the paper wasp nest carefully and inserting the expander through the large opening at the bottom. Waspinator won the Silver Award at the 2008 DIY and Garden Show at Earl’s Court and at the prestigious Business Garden Show in Holland and has won various similar awards in Northern America. Again, each colony starts anew each spring, but old, empty nests often remain visible for a year or so. When a queen wasp, the one that starts a new colony, sees the repellent, she thinks the territory is already occupied by a rival colony and so goes somewhere else to set up her new home. If you are having this done late in the season, make sure there are no hibernating Queens hiding away in nooks and crannies, under lagging, etc.

Like bees, some wasp species are 'social', meaning they form large nests headed by a queen and consist mainly of sterile female workers.I'm skeptical, but if a sensible bee person conducts a proper trial, I am willing to be convinced otherwise. Make sure there is plenty of water available for plants as this reduces the amount of sap produced by plants, which is attractive to wasps looking for nectar from flowers.
