True to its lineage, the ASICS GT 2000 9 maintains its identity as the trusty stability road workhorse! The GT 2000 GTX is billed as a hybrid all purpose shoe but upon first glance it looks as though it’s designed exclusively for the trail. The softer mesh upper provides for plenty of ventilation, especially in the heat of the day during those longer runs. I was even able to get these shoes on some moderate trails, and they seem to handle the dirt, gravel, and mud just fine!

The reduction in seams reduces the risks of chafing and irritation so you can go further for longer in complete comfort. The mesh upper also works to support the foot as you move ensuring you always feel locked in and comfortable. We tested the GT-2000 9 back-to-back with the GT-2000 8, and found them to be of roughly equal stiffness.

This is a good shoe for distance training, and shows no sign of wear or cracking, even after racking up well over 50 miles. This offering also incorporates reflective accents throughout the design, which allow you to stay more visible in low-light conditions. Befitting an all weather shoe, the tongue of the GT 2000 GTX is gusseted to the upper to prevent trail debris and water from entering the shoe.Asics really needs to open up the toe box and allow for a bit more toe spread as I believe this allows a runners foot to be more naturally stable.

In the case of the GT 2000 GTX, Asics adds an all weather Gore Tex upper and an aggressive outsole lug pattern for running both on and off road in any weather condition.
