The illustrations of the two characters are amazing and the rhyming text make this such a great book for little ones. Bear and squirrel do everything together and sometimes it can be too much BUT it’s much better to do things together instead of alone. The (absolutely gorgeous, stunning) illustrations go a long way in conveying some of Squirrel's discomfort in the face of Bear's enthusiasm. But we see that they both love each other, and that life just isn't the same when they are not together, and we see how much squirrel really appreciates this best friend. I am still waiting for a picture book where two very good friends can have boundaries, spend time apart, and still have a joyful relationship whenever they are together.
