About this deal

I enjoyed seeing Reacher deal with the bad eggs of the military, dead pan comments and simple but oh so effective cutting comments. In the book there is also a parallel part concerning Reacher's private life, in particular the relationship with his brother Joe and their mother; it is a part that will lead Reacher to discover things that he did not know about his mother's past and that makes us understand a little more why he is like this today. Lee Child was born October 29th, 1954 in Coventry, England, but spent his formative years in the nearby city of Birmingham.

As always with Child's writing, there are a lot of details and information woven into this story but it doesn't disrupt the flow/pace of the suspense as it continuously builds to a dynamic climax. Reacher deduces that Kramer was gay, and that he met Carbone at the motel, who stole his briefcase when he died and informed Brubaker of the contents. By signing up I consent to you using my details to send me Jack Reacher newsletters from the UK and confirm that I have read Penguin Random House’s Privacy Policy. One of the things that impressed me about this book was that Reacher went from badass to super badass in such a strong way. For the most part, this story was so convoluted, twisting around on itself and so full of betrayals! We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. The book is written in the usual Lee Child style, that is, it never exceeds vulgarity even if all the events take place in environments that are certainly not known for their refinement. The story ends with Reacher reflecting on the fact that he never saw Summer again despite hearing that she received a promotion to Captain. Because this soldier’s son is on his way into the darkness, where he finds a tangled drama of desperate desires and violent death—and a conspiracy more chilling, ingenious, and treacherous than anyone could have guessed. BookBrowse seeks out and recommends the best in contemporary fiction and nonfiction—books that not only engage and entertain but also deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Every time they thought they found some new clues, it turned out that what they got led them to nowhere. Reacher and Joe's mother dies, the boys are different in their interactions with her, Reacher is a realist and accepting of their mother's desire to die without fuss, Joe is more inclined to show his heart on his sleeve. It is not included in promotions available to our main range products, as stated in our terms of service.

He went to law school in Sheffield, England, and after part-time work in the theater he joined Granada Television in Manchester for what turned out to be an eighteen-year career as a presentation director during British TV's "golden age. Same engaging character (Reacher,) great plot lines, wonderful supporting character development, and best of all, a nice pace to the story. Marshall attempts to commit suicide by maneuvering the tanks into firing on his position, but Reacher shoots him in the shoulder and takes him into custody.
