About this deal

It was a quote attributed to Stephen King that went something like this: the first million words are practice for becoming an author. I wasn’t a huge fan of Eilean at first but I warmed up to her, especially because of how she cared about those closest to her and those relationships. Because books 2 and 3 were already in progress, there wasn’t much wait for The Thief’s Daughter and The King’s Traitor. The generations who upheld the lore of the Medium, as taught by these individuals, became exceptionally gifted in the magic.

I would take everything I’d learned over the years and start with a brand new novel, the first book of a trilogy. The rank of maston is achieved after a learner has studied reading and engraving at an abbey and has passed a secret test within the inner precincts, displaying their affinity for and ability to use the power of the Medium.

Everyone helped out, some carrying pitchers, some bowls with loaves, others trays of cheeses, nuts, and gooseberries. It was in college that I was introduced to Here Be Dragons by Sharon Kay Penman and learned from that trilogy about the sad fate of the last Princess of Wales. That idea germinated, blossomed, and when I realized that it could have happened in Muirwood, I was so pumped to start writing it. As I was finishing the final book, I realized that the story of Kingfountain wasn’t going to be over.

The good thing is that I cut my teeth on that novel and began to hone my instincts and my process: one night a week; one chapter a week; repeat until done. Even after I had finished it, my mind kept churning out ideas for new material and I ended up making it a trilogy. A very well constructed world with a religion at its core, one akin to Christianity, even with its own version of Martin Luther, but apparently in a parallel world with Arthurian Legend, and featuring a Merlin character, which heightened its appeal to me.As a primarily Fantasy reader, I had high hopes for Jeff Wheeler's work - and I am very excited to say he lived up to and exceeded my expectations! I still remember losing my hard-cover edition of her book When Christ and His Saints Slept because I had set it on top of my car and it had blown off.

Mordaunt's character spans two completely different worlds and I honestly don't know how Wheeler keeps it all straight sometimes! Argentine is the black-garbed, duplicitous, enraged, self-absorbed usurper of the throne of Ceredigion in.He’s also the founder of Deep Magic, which I actually submitted to a few times when I had something which fit their values. The threads are already being laid for the time in the future when women and wretcheds aren't allowed to learn. This book is actually a prequel as it takes place before the Abbey is built so it’s a great place to begin.
