About this deal

This not only made the game much easier for the LEGO-challenged, but also much funnier for everyone. Product description: Roll the LEGO® Dice to select one of four exciting building categories: vehicles, buildings, nature or things.

It took a number of turns before one of my kids, who has a perfectionist tendency to relax and really enjoy it. There was some in-depth negotiation needed to convince him that the next creation would be even better and he might like to play with that instead! I thought the game sounded like a great idea for a board game however it simply doesn't work as one.The known theme allows other players to start guessing immediately, which turns out to be a big part of the fun. So, as we played and my son lost interest I quickly realized so many fatal flaws that seemed to doom the game. There are some variations, but the basics are very straightforward: Players take turns in throwing the dice, which decides the building theme (nature, vehicles, buildings or items), and choosing one card from the three difficulty stacks. Roll the LEGO® Dice to select one of four exciting building categories: vehicles, buildings, nature or things.

The different levels allow everyone to feel challenged and it ‘evens’ out the age and ability levels.

It was created by Melbourne based mum to five, Nicole Avery who loves spreadsheets, routines and running. However, this game doesn't necessarily favor players of any particular age, since my kids beat me hands down at creating identifiable models. There are different icons on the die and the same on the cards when it is your turn you have to choose easy medium or hard and then roll the die.

Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). The fact that the cards feature pictures (rather than words) allows pre-readers to participate in the game.If at times somebody gets it right after just one or two bricks, so be it – it is far preferable to silent moments where one builds and others wait.

And it was a great excuse for some quiet family time sitting down around the table together, in-between a weekend that was otherwise full of birthday parties and sugar highs. The set contains a wide selection of parts, including one minifigure and one microfigure, but no building instructions. Planning With Kids is written on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People, which includes the Gunung-Willam-Balluk clan, as the Traditional Custodians of this land. There is no game board, nor is one built – Creationary revolves around the dice, the cards, the included brick container and the things players build and tear apart. This means that I may get a commission if you choose to purchase after browsing via these links - at absolutely no extra cost to you, of course.Initially I was concerned that building LEGO (as opposed to sketching in Pictionary) would increase the lead time before guessing can start. I only recommend products which I use and love, or that I think will be quality products that will be useful to my readers. As you can imagine, this makes for a very boring game waiting for your turn watching a couple of people build for 10-15 minutes, then you build for 30 seconds, then they take their turns again. I tried to stick it out a while after my son left only to come to the same conclusion - great idea but playability is zero!
