While this is not a TMNT release, a turtles ally is back with an impressive and very limited edition figure. I personally really like the extra bit of detailed fur sculpting in these figures even though you don’t really see that level in detail on the show.

Remarkably, I didn't have any problems with joints that were frozen or sealed shut with paint, which I think is a first for a NECA figure for me.This highly detailed figure captures the iconic look of Usagi Yojimbo in all his black and white glory. They told me flat-out they don't forward packages, only letters, so I'm honestly surprised I even got it. It seemed that everything has arrived just in time to help promote the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem film. He comes with a stoic face and a slightly perturbed face with buck teeth visible, and his ears (either poking up, or folded back) are interchangeable so you can create a total of four different possible heads. Usagi Yojimbo is one of my favorite comics, I love his team-ups with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the prototype looked so killer, making this guy my most anticipated figure of the year.

The weapon holsters for other toys like Traag and Granitor have always seemed too fragile to me, so this was a good alternate design approach. There was an attempt in 1994 to give Space Usagi his own show, and there's test footage out there with Jim Cummings doing the voice of Usagi, but the show never got off the ground as a full-fledged series. It has been a pretty incredible weekend for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans, with a massive drop from multiple companies.I tend to pay more attention to the characters and vehicles than I do with the various gadgets on the show, if we're being totally honest. Speaking of disguises, Usagi comes with a hooded robe with a loose piece of elastic to tie it closed along with two heads (stern and extra stern), two sets of ears (up or down) three sets of hands (fist, grip, and open) Katar (triangular knife), Kunai (throwing knife), two swords (Wakizashi and Katana), sword sheathes, a loop of elastic for the sheathes, a hat, and a Tokage (lizard). When I became an adult I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up. Includes hat, cloak, tokage, katana, wakizashi, katar, kunai, and interchangeable heads, ears and hands! These rabbits are selling fast and can be found right here; stay tuned for a standard Space Usagi later on.

Usagi shows up in season 3, so the Turtles’ concept of disguise has morphed into leather jackets and sunglasses for Usagi’s debut episode, a look I enjoyed seeing here. The advantage of this set up is you can move the sheathes around during posing and get them on the side of the figure or more around the front if you like. It works well on the alternate flattened ears for a traveling look and I’m impressed at how crisp the black painted detail lines are on this accessory.I recommend grasping the up-pointing ears by the base, since mine came separated where the ears meet the base, and I had to glue them back together.
