Monument have reengineered a design previously unseen on the UK market. The (launched in June 2020 ) pipe benders, 1215K XV 15mm Pipe Bender, the 1315XVE 15mm (1315Longarm XVL 15mm) , the 1222G XXII 22mm and the 1322Extended XXIIE 22mm Pipe Benders deliver force to bend the pipe in the same plane as the bend. The traditional combi bender such as the Hilmor ® GLM or Irwin ® GLM or Monument ® MON2600 are offset from the bending plane. The Monument 2600K 15mm and 22mm is a best selling pipe bender. These are available in Monument brand widely available across the UK from plumbers merchants and e-tailers MON2600 2600K, Instinct® brand INST2600 from PHG independent plumbers merchants and also from UKPS plumbers merchants including Plumbase under Entity® brand ENT2600. When initially launched on the UK market Monument ensured that the hook stop was redesigned so as to not mark the pipe. It is well documented that soldered fittings and compression fittings interrupt the flow of water around a heating system. Bending of copper pipe ensures unrestricted flow of water and can also create attractive, crafted finishes on installations.

Less fiddly – with the integrated hook and nylon guide, the integrated hook stop won’t flop from side to side and the guide(s) won’t fall out. We have included bending angles of 30 45 60 and 90 degrees on the XV and XVL 15mm versions and an additional 75 degree angle on the 22mm version; these are easily visible on the Former of each bender.

Durable and easy to work with, copper pipe is frequently used in homes as a water supply pipe. Since copper is a beautiful metal, whether polished and shiny or left to age to a green patina, copper pipe is often used as a crafting material for its own decorative qualities. Better sight lines – as the bend is in the same plane as the arms of the bender it is easier to line up by eye. And let’s face it, two separate guides just mean you have two more things to lose, and two more things you’ve got to find in your van every morning. If you’ve not used copper pipe benders before, you’ve probably never creased a pipe. It goes without saying creasing affecting the integrity of the pipe long term, and that’s a big no-no.

XV is much smaller than a combi; arm length is 40cm compared to a combi arm length of 65cm. Note the 15mm XVL & 22mm XXII arm lengths are about 60cm The formers are sized at different pipes sizes and are about 150mm long. Now, as you close the handle, the former pushes the pipe round the wheel former giving you a perfect, kink free bend.

We have also designed bending arm extension handles to increase the leverage for bending both 15mm 22mm copper pipe. These short threaded extension handles code 1224M fit both the 15mm XV XVE & XVL and 22mm XXII versions. One or more extension handles can be added for additional leverage.

So, why do we use the Hilmore GLM tube benders, when there’s quite obviously others around the same price, and even more on offer for much less.
