About this deal

When colder weather is upon us, we often find ourselves overhauling any and every ritual associated with the warmer months. On the fashion side, that means developing a new rotation of shoes and replacing tanks with sweaters. Where beauty is concerned, it can mean swapping your lightweight, gel-based products for a heavier skincare routine. Sometimes, we find ourselves so immersed in other endeavors that it can be easy to overlook the need to swap our summery fragrances for the best perfumes of the season . That being said, the task becomes pretty easy once you’re in on the secret behind compliments all winter long: amber perfumes.

Amber scents smell sultry, musky and smoky, and are best known for their sensuality and intensity – ideal for those who prefer a rich, dark perfume profile. Between layers of leather and spice, discover sweetened aromas of caramel and maple – all wrapped in a symphony of distinctive woody and tobacco notes. These notes are sometimes paired with other undertones to intensify or dilute the amber fragrance profile: think hints of licorice, toffee and honey. What are the ingredients found in Amber Perfumes? Scent: Montale Blue Amber is an incredible fragrance with a fresh, sweet scent. The opening of this fragrance is quite fresh with a hint of floral in there as well. This then gets accompanied a sweet, earthy scent. All the while, the base of this fragrance is noticeable. A sweet, warm scent of vanilla and amber. This is an overall very nice, sweet, slightly spicy fragrance with the lovable oriental characteristics. Vanilla is extracted from the seeds of the vanilla plant – grown throughout Madagascar and Indonesia. The seeds are scraped from dried pods and used as the base of vanillin, the synthetic compound used in modern perfumery. The profile of amber perfumes often depends on the quantity of the vanilla: in higher quantities, it cuts through the darker notes of labdanum and benzoin, giving the fragrance its sweet top notes. In amber fragrances with higher quantities of vanilla, you can expect a fluffy, creamy – and almost powdery – scent. What other ingredients are used in amber fragrances?

3. Tom Ford Amber Absolute

Other early examples of other similar fragrances include Incense, which was used in religious ceremonies in many cultures including China, India and Japan; and Myrrh, a resin that was used as a component of incense and also had medicinal properties. While ambergris once graced the base note of several eau de parfums, scarcity and environmental concerns have pushed the perfumers to tread towards a synthesized form. Nevertheless, the hints of rich amber or the scent of ambergris continue to play a crucial role in crafting quality perfumes—an enigmatic whisper that lasts longer than most love affairs! Why does amber smell good? Ambergris was a major component in the original creation of some of these perfumes. Today, we synthetically recreate some of these Amber scents with the use of aroma chemicals. What Products do Amber Fragrances work best for? While the use of ambergris was more widespread during the height of the whaling industry, now naturally occurring ambergris is only used in the most premium fragrances. Not only is it difficult to obtain natural ambergris, many people also have qualms about using products taken from animals, such as whales. Thanks to developments in the fragrance industry, now it’s quite possible to achieve an amber scent that mimics ambergris by mixing together natural and/or synthetic ingredients, so there’s no need to worry about your candles containing sperm whale byproducts.

Fragrance Profile: Amber is a fantasy note in perfumery which has been mostly inspired by its golden color and is a basic accord of labdanum, benzoin and vanilla. This accord may vary. Notes: The top notes of Van Cleef & Arpels Ambre Imperial are bergamot and pink pepper. The middle notes are amber, tonka bean, and vanilla. The base notes are benzoin and woods.Given their woody and earthy notes, it’s unsurprising that amber scents share their name with this semi-precious stone. In fact, many of the ingredients – such as labdanum, benzoin and Tolu balsam – used in amber perfume formulations are also taken from the resin produced by trees and plants.

Amber is one of the most highly-prized perfume ingredients in the world and is also one of the most complex to obtain. It is luxurious and seductive but perhaps not as distinct as one might first believe. Amber is often used as a base note to support other scents, but its warm, spicy aroma cannot be mistaken. Similar to Tolu balsam, Peru balsam is also a tree resin. This resin – an oily, dark brown substance – is taken from myroxylon balsamum, a tree grown in El Salvador. With its subtle vanilla notes, Peru balsam is also frequently layered with labdanum in amber perfumes – although, unlike its Tolu counterpart, this balsam is lighter, milder and sweeter. Ambergris

Notes: The top notes of Dolce & Gabbana The One are grapefruit, coriander, and basil. The middle notes are cardamom, ginger, and orange blossom. The base notes are cedarwood, ambergris, and tobacco. Aloe vera: By far, aloe vera is the best instant skin soother and works to cool the skin after a shave. It also features antiseptic, anti-inflammatory properties that help prevent burns, bumps and scrapes. Many lotion and balm formulas use aloe vera to ease any symptoms of razor burn, so finding a formula should be easy.
