About this deal

Rub the wax on, generally going with the grain. I found it easy to use a little extra and then just wipe off rather than trying to spread too little around. The picture below shows the very beginning of my process on this door. I started in the corners and edges first, then wiped the flat recessed panel of the door next.Along the edges where the grain is perpendicular to the edge, I just sort of globbed it on, then was sure to buff in the direction of the grain. Maintenance: The renowned Briwax finish can be maintained by further applications, giving increased hardness and shine.

UPDATE: I’ve been asked about using liming wax to try to go lighter. I gave it a try! See my results here. For a guide and comparison of our wax polishes, have a read of our blog, Wax Polishes, Which Should I Use?

I love using Briwax to stain and finish wood, especially pine. It leaves a beautiful touchable luster that enhances the natural character of the wood. It provides a lot of control over adding and removing color and is very forgiving of mistakes. Briwax comes in a dozen or more different colors and it is easy to layer colors and create depth and dimension that would be difficult to achieve with other stains. Apply Briwax using a lint free cloth or 0000 Steel Wool, thoroughly working the wax into the grain. Once dry, buff to desired finish with a clean soft cloth. Improved shine and durability can be achieved by first sealing the surface with Briwax Sanding Sealer.

Briwax Original is formulated with fast drying, stronger solvents which speed up drying and also increase the cleaning ability of the wax slightly. This means that it will renovate older dirtier furniture and leave you with the deep grain enriching Briwax shine. Unsealed wooden surfaces should be smooth, dry and clean. The next step is to wipe this clean. What I should have done, is wipe off the excess and then use clear wax to remove the liming wax from the flats and from the areas that didn’t need to be highlighted. Sadly what I did was rub in the liming wax and dry wipe away the excess. The results looked pretty great at first. We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. If you’ve got a lot to do, plan to spread the task out! The buffing did wear me out a bit, so I would just do several doors at a time, then take a break.A professional appearance, improved shine and more durable finish can be obtained by sealing the wood. To achieve this, brush along the grain with Shellac Sanding Sealer before using Briwax Original wax polish. How to use Briwax for a fast, easy, foolproof way to stain and finish raw wood. We used Briwax to enhance and accentuate the natural character and beauty of the two nightstand DIY tables. We built these tables out of pine which has a tendency to take stain unevenly which makes for a blotchy, streaky, cheap looking finish. Not at all what we had in mind for these gorgeous tables. We chose to stain our wood using Briwax for an all in one stain, seal, and protect finish that is fast, easy to apply, and gives you an old world hand rubbed finish. How to Stain Wood with Briwax So the very first thing you need to know for the project is what the base color you are looking for. I was going for an aged pine look with the liming wax adding even further age to the overall appearance. Starting off with raw pine, it looked anything but aged.

What we consider to be a normal wax finish will be a slightly pigmented light brown coloured wax which will produce a warm mellow finish. Often we can show you a piece which has already been waxed which your chosen piece of furniture will look like once all done. Although pieces of old pine furniture will vary in colour and patina once waxed. This is a traditional finishing treatment for all types of wood in the home and in the workshop. Briwax is a blend of Beeswax and Carnauba waxes and gives an instant natural sheen to bare wood. It is ideal for use on wood carvings and turned wood, skirting boards and doors, and is widely used in the pine furniture industry. The kitchen cabinets were in pretty good shape. They were generally free of dings, but some did have a few scratches. The bigger issue was that they were dull and dirty, and the finish had been worn down or even off in some places (like where they were grabbed to be pulled open). I also wasn’t in love with the orangey tone of them.
