About this deal

After how the first book was, I so wasn't expecting to love this so much?? And unlike Gild, this didn't leave me feeling super uncomfortable and disturbed. I definitely enjoyed this a lot more.

Overall, I loved this wayyy more than Gild obviously like the new friendships, banter, and character development was just so good. The reason this didn't get 5 stars though is because the Malina chapters were boring and I could care less about her💀 Auren grows so much in this book, it’s impressive and it also felt so good to witness. She still struggles a lot with her feelings when it comes to Midas because even though she comes to realize that she was not exactly happy in her gilded cage, she still loves Midas and feels that she owes him her loyalty and life since he’s been the one that saved and protected her… That inevitably led to some frustrating choices on her end, but those choices created some delightful angst, and I just know that they will continue to add angst into the next book, so I am actually happy about Auren’s choices. I think it would have felt less realistic if she’d just done a 180o and suddenly decided that she didn’t want anything to do with Midas anymore. I am curious to see how she will deal with all her emotions though now that she realized how badly Midas is treating her, and how little he cares about her, but she is still forced to stay with him because he owns her (his words, not mine). I was supposed to die. If it weren’t for Slade, I would have. But he tore a hole the world I know and I went through it. To Annwyn. To home. There was a lot of worldbuilding - do NOT complain, especially if you read Glow, we are literally in another VERY different kingdom and that needs its own history and people. I really love how we did a lot of the discovery of the new realm through Auren, who as we’ve read, has had limited memories of what was her home. It’s so cool and we are introduced to new characters that I feel are going to add so much to the story. I have fallen for Slade. I liked him before but I'm just so in love with him now. I mean, he's a guy who owns more daggers than shirts?? How is that not random amazing? And just the anggsstt between Slade and Auren?? I was waitng for so much and it happened at last. There were so many sweet and tender moments where my heart felt like it was just going to burst. These precious moments <3 The term "baby". This one might be a bit petty, and I might be the only one it bothers, but "baby" in my mind is used primarily by teenagers and manipulative men - NOT by highly intelligent kings who spend their time strategizing war and politics while also supporting women's strength and independence. Much like I would cringe at someone being called "snuggly bear" because it's overly saccharine, "baby" makes me cringe because it never felt like a truthful endearment to me. If you need an endearment, things like "beautiful", "my love", "my heart", etc. are at least better because they connote a positive feeling with them. Even more, "baby" is a modern endearment, and feels like a slip-up in this ancient world with fae and kings. Ultimately, "Goldfinch" was the only endearment needed - it was unique to her and was caring while also being empowering (speaking to independence outside of the cage she'd been trapped in). Why would you bring it down with bland, basic terms like "baby"? I will probably re-read this series one day as its becoming a favourite but I might re-read this book before Glow comes out, as a refresher. Now that you’ve caught up, it’s time to start binge-reading from the beginning to the end. FAQs Is “The Plated Prisoner” Series YA or Adult?

Love is a whisper we didn't hear or a sound that drums in our ears and drowns out everything else." He rescued me when I was at my lowest, and because of that, I thought staying with him would keep me at my highest. But really, he’s trapped me in place and forced me to accept it all. The “Plated Prisoner” series is meant for adults only, especially “Gild,” the first book, which contains multiple trigger warnings, including abuse, sexual violence, strong language, and enslavement. How many books are there in the “The Plated Prisoner” series? Slade is so intense and I love him for that. He lets Auren know from the start what he wants, but he treats her in a way that makes it clear that while he says he wants everything and he will not let her go after one night, he doesn't plan on trying to control her, and he would let her go if that's what she wanted. Their slow-burn romance and the building of all that sexual tension were so so so good to read (and OMG, chapters 29-30 were a spicy perfection). I think the main plot felt slowed down because we spend a lot of time in this book in a “side” characters (not Slade or Auren) POV. I LOVED this characters POV and I enjoyed seeing their character arc and getting to know characters connected to them.Auren is trapped in a cage once more by Midas, and she is alone in an unfamiliar place with no one to rescue her. Except for one man, King Slade, whom Auren finds far too attractive. I am sending Raven Kennedy my therapy bills because enough is enough! If I cannot stand for something, than what will I stand for? I have rights!! I deserve peace!!
