About this deal

This batch of extras includes everything from the original 1999 MGM DVD release (and their later Blu-ray) save for an SD photo gallery and a DVD-ROM online event link. Included from the Arrow Blu-ray release is a newer interview with Fraisse called Close-Up. But missing from the Arrow Blu-ray is an HD photo gallery, the Cinephile: You Talkin’ to Me? appreciation of Robert De Niro by Quentin Tarantino from 1994 (SD – 27:01), and the liner notes booklet, so you may wish to keep that edition to retain this content. Note that the trailers here are a mix of HD and SD, but some of the HD ones look like they’re upsampled. The word ‘ronin’ comes from the lore of feudal Japan, used to describe samurai whose masters had been killed and who wandered the land in shame looking for redemption. The comparison is apt; Ronin’s protagonists are as enigmatic as the title implies. Less is definitely more here. In that vein, there’s no point in revealing more of the plot—you simply need to see it for yourself. For certain video specifications, LiDAR waveform and the exposure waveform on the main monitor cannot be enabled while recording. The previously released MGM Blu-ray was encoded via MPEG-2 and was a rather unimpressive viewing experience. Arrow's version is by and large a

Everything is prominent and powerful but in a balanced, believable manner. Dialogue is delivered with faultless clarity. It is well prioritized as it flows Tearing around Europe with handguns, assault rifles, heavy machine guns, a grenade launcher and even a bazooka, De Niro literally has a blast on the action front too, even talking Reno through surgery to remove a bullet from his side with the off-the-cuff remark that he's an old pro at auto-surgery, having once had to remove an appendix with a grapefruit spoon, closing out his ordeal with "If you don't mind, I think I'm going to just pass out.". It's a word-perfect script and the cast lap it up. Ronin: Filming in the Fast Lane - this archival program offers raw footage from the shooting of Ronin in France with clips from archival interviews with producer Frank Mancuso Jr., Natascha McElhone, Jean Reno, Robert De Niro, and John Frankenheimer, among others. In English, not subtitled. (18 min). The Venice Film Festival Interviews with Robert De Niro, Natascha McElhone and Jean Reno: A 21-minute series of interviews with the performers in which they discuss working with Frankenheimer, their characters, the stunts in the film, the arc of the film and more. The X9 has what DJI describes as an interchangeable lens mount design that allows connection to DJI’s proprietary DL mount and Leica M mount, the two that were called out specifically. Below is what the M-mount looks like: considerably, with everything from flesh tones to other elements like the evocative tile roofs seen in some aerial shots much more solidly saturated world, ranging from garments to tents and other structures -- with noticeably deeper contrast and tonal efficiency. Compared to the Blu-ray, there is no little to no signs of an aging director. Filled with some of the most bracing car chases caught on celluloid, and with a twisting narrative that sees

better across the board on this release. Grain resolution is also excellent for the most part, though just a bit of chunky yellowness creeps in at Venice Film Festival - presented here is archival footage from interviews that were conducted at the Venice Film Festival where Ronin was screened. Robert De Niro, Jean Reno, and Natascha McElhone discuss the nature of the project and John Frankenheimer's directing methods. In English, not subtitled. (21 min). John Frankenheimer's "Ronin" arrives on 4K Blu-ray courtesy of Kino Lorber. The supplemental features on the release include an archival audio commentary by the director; numerous archival programs with cast and crew interviews; recent program with cinematographer Robert Fraisse; alternate ending; and more. In English, with optional English subtitles for the main feature. Region-Free. The Driving of Ronin - in this archival program, stunt-car coordinator Jean-Claude Lagniez discusses some of the dangerous work he did during the shooting of Ronin. In French, with English subtitles. Measured with a fully charged TB50 battery in a 26° C (78° F) environment with the gimbal balanced, equipment in a level and stationary state, the Z-Axis disabled, and continuously recording in RAW. Operating time will be reduced when Ronin 4D is in motion or the Z-Axis is enabled. I should note that the very first DVD release also included a DVD-ROM link to an online event on the film (held in March of 1999), but, as I predicted at the time, all of that content is no longer available. Such was (and continues to be) the folly of DVD-ROM and digital streaming-only content. An Actor’s Process with Natascha McElhone: A 14-minute interview with the actress in which she discusses learning from Frankenheimer, the atmosphere on set, memories of her fellow performers and more.

Kino Lorber carries over a ton of previous supplements from the MGM DVD and Arrow Blu-ray releases of Ronin to this release. While a couple of features are omitted, like a photo gallery on the Arrow release, what you get here is still very nice. In particular, the interview with Robert Fraisse goes a bit deep on Frankenheimer’s directing style and is really pleasing to listen to The tilt arm rotation has a stop in it (excluding 90 degrees), it rotates only 270 degrees. By rotating the roll axis to move the tilt motor to left side, you also move the exluded portion. Because you need to rotate the tilt axis aswell 180 degrees, or the camera attachment point would be upside down on the very top of the rotation. With the crane 3 lab, the pictures you included, this means the tilt arm will not go down more than what the picture is showing if the tilt motor was on the left side. As the excluded 90 degrees now is located at the bottom part of the rotation, ~320-70 degrees (0/360 rotation point in the bottom when the gimbal is on a stand) international cast including Robert De Niro, Jean Reno, Natascha McElhone, Stellan Skarsgård, Sean Bean, Féodor Atkine and Jonathan Pryce.

Alternate Ending - a different, less convincing ending for Ronin. In English, not subtitled. (2 min). Ronin is not a perfect film, but it is a very good film. If you’re new to it, it’s a fine, brooding actioner and definitely worth your time, especially if you liked De Niro in Heat and Reno in Léon: The Professional. If you already know this film’s virtues, you’ll be glad to know that it’s aged well… and has never looked and sounded better. Arrow’s Blu-ray is certainly the definitive release of this film and is thus highly recommended. The camera also features a built-in nine-stop neutral density filter. allegiances shifting and characters turning out to be different than assumed, Ronin is probably a bit too convoluted for its own
