About this deal

Together, Ventress and Vos are the best hope for eliminating Dooku--as long as the emerging feelings between them don't compromise their mission. But Ventress is determined to have her retribution and at last let go of her dark Sith past. Balancing the complicated emotions she feels for Vos with the fury of her warrior's spirit, she resolves to claim victory on all fronts--a vow that will be mercilessly tested by her deadly enemy . . . and her own doubt. One of the largest Mahranee ships bloomed silently into a flower of yellow and red that disintegrated into pieces of rubble. saw the launch of an original fantasy series called The Final Dance, from LUNA Books. The first novel in the series, On Fire's Wings, was published in July of that year. The second, In Stone’s Clasp , came out in September of 2005. With In Stone’s Clasp, Golden won the Colorado Author’s League Top Hand Award for Best Genre Novel for the second time. The third book, Under Sea’s Shadow, is available only as an e-book Once he encounters the Sleeper, he is supposed to kill the creature. This is problematic, to say the least, as the creature is dangerous and powerful. While there are no concrete descriptions of the creature (“it varies from person to person”), it is known that it is massive, deadly, and has tentacles. Similar to the grotesque Scylla from The O dyssey, these tentacles, as well as the teeth of the Sleeper are the stuff of nightmares. Vos must face his understandable fears, but symbolically, the real fear is within him, and what he could become through this encounter.

As a finale for Asajj Ventress' story arc, I have to say I was rather disappointed in it as well. Ventress, for all of her flaws, was one of the most formidable female characters in the Star Wars Expanded Universe(s). I never quite bought her redemption stories, though, because all of her personality was focused on being a ruthless murdering psychopath. After betraying them twice and having only recently turned away from the Dark Side of the Force, the Jedi Council puts Vos on temporary probation and rehabilitation even though they are willing to give him a second chance at redemption. They let him go to Dathomir to return Ventress's body, but under Obi-Wan's supervision since it's a known Dark Side hotspot.Pragmatic Hero: Mace Windu decides that the easiest way to end the war is to assassinate Dooku, a decision which he considers pragmatic and the only way to prevent millions of more deaths. Several Jedi consider this course of action to be very close to straying to the Dark Side of the Force. Following the meeting, Vos travels down to Coruscant's level 1313 to inquire about Ventress's whereabouts. At a seedy bar, the undercover Jedi meets several bounty hunters who are acquainted with Ventress, including the Trandoshan Bossk, and the late Jango Fett's son Boba Fett. Fett reveals that Ventress took a job on the planet Pantora, chasing down a Volpai fugitive named Moregi. Using this information, Vos travels to Pantora, where he stumbles upon Ventress' hunt. Due to Quinlan's arrival, Moregi managed to escape. After a tense reunion, Vos and Ventress joined forces to capture Moregi.

Ventress’ bitterness is so powerful. She feels that she has lost the strong platonic connection she had with her Sith Master (“Dooku had not loved her. She had thought he had.”) The most vivid moment in the novel is actually the aftermath of a different story entirely, the massacre of the Nightsisters. This book is a welcomed return to the Clone Wars television show so many Star Wars fans adored. Based upon unproduced episodes, Dark Disciple is co-headlined by two show favorites, Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress, features many other Star Wars faces (both minor and major), and adds yet another layer to the ever expanding history of this Clone Wars era in Star Wars. Golden especially excelled at bringing Ventress's biting but appealing personality to life. . . . She's very much a woman trying to find her way, and Dark Disciple adds nuance." -- Nerdist Yeah, I don't know how to summarize my opinions on this book. I don't want to to insult Christie Golden as I absolutely adore her and still consider her novel, Arthas, one of my all-time favorite novels. Certainly, she can do romance since I found the Jaina Proudmoore/Arthas Menethil romance to be one of my favorite in the World of Warcraft universe. But this? Well, I just didn't like it. Caught on Tape: Ventress lies to Vos, telling him that Count Dooku killed his Jedi Master, Tholme. When Count Dooku captures Vos, after hearing this from Vos, he plays a holorecording showing that it was Ventress who did the deed. It doesn't convince him because Dooku has falsified tapes in the past. Dooku, however, knows that Vos has the skill of psychometry, the ability to experience past events by touching an object, so he makes him touch Tholme's lightsaber. Her [Asajj Ventress'] strength and vulnerability resounded profoundly with me. […] I was in the throes of a bad breakup, and writing for Ventress and Vos was incredibly cathartic for me. […] At its core, Dark Disciple is a story of redemption; a story of how people can be unbelievably broken, and yet find a way to rebuild despite the odds. All of us are given chances time and time again to transform our lives, and it is our responsibility to seize those opportunities before they disappear." ―Katie Lucas [1] Canon Immigrant: Among other things, the Faleen ability to project pheromones, and the B3 Ultra Battle Droid (which is briefly mentioned, but not shown). Emotionally charged . . . Christie Golden does a wonderful job of capturing the characters." --Roqoo Depot
